Topic: Too Many Great Video Games

Okay, so about a month ago I went to a local retro game store and bought RC Pro AM (NES), Adventures of LOLO (NES) and God of War (PS2). The next week i got three more games: DKC2 (SNES), Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) and Ducktales Remastered (Wii U). Out of these games i beat LOLO and Mario Kart but haven't put in more than 2 hours on any other game.

But thats not all, since then I have bought Shovel Knight (Wii U) and Rayman Origins (3ds). I also put a significant amount of time into finally beating Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Soul Hacker (3ds). And now i want even more games like Persona 4, Bravely Default, Final Fantasy VII and Tomodachi Life and plenty more.

I was wondering if other people have this problem with an incredible number of games they want to play/buy? Or how people deal with this problem because there are so many video games out there, either retro or current that are awesome and worthy of being played?

I take my time. As a gamer, sometimes having a backlog means that you have to rush to scratch all of these games off of the laundry list, and that sucks out the enjoyment you may have with some, doing a disservice to both you and the game.

If I enjoy a game so much, I can go as far as replay it, even when I have other untouched or unfinished games.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

@sinalefa Thats generally what I am doing now. My backlog is ever growing. Something else i do is not play two platformers back to back or two rpgs back to back (I have a lot of RPGs that I own but havent beaten) in order to hold my interest in a certain game for longer.

I try not to start too many games. It gets in the way of important things and makes it harder to enjoy the games for what they are, which can make it seem like a better idea to just completely stop playing the game. If you have the mindset that "I'll get around to most of these games eventually" and just pick away at your backlog when you have enough time, it's pretty easy to actually play a lot of the games you want to try out. Also, it can be a good thing to make compromises in regards to what you play. You can't play every game out there worth playing, so being a bit picky with what you buy (after all, it is your money being spent on these games) can help you narrow down your choices to games you know you'll really enjoy.

It does have 1170 games though. Mine is small in comparison at 937.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

@8BitSamurai @Knux Do you two own all these games or do u just want to play them? I always think i own a lot of games at a little over 100. Maybe u two need to start playing some of those games... I dont think I can think of 1000 videogames

The proof is in the pudding.

Yes, I own all of them and my goal is to play (and at least beat) all of my games. This is what happens when you buy games at a faster rate than you actually play them. It can even happen to you eventually, so don't act so surprised.

Of course, I have been playing them. But a combination of real life and juggling multiple games makes conquering my BL effing hard.

@Knux BL doesn't really prove anything. Anybody could type in whatever game and say that they own it, even if they don't.

With that attitude, why trust anything? Seriously, why would you lie about your backloggery? Having less games is the point, not more. And trust me, you won't get bragging rights, you'll get people telling you to stop buying games.

It's like that for me too. Although being a former collector my situation was very different than the majority imo. Owning 1500 games for a collector really isnt that big of a number, especially if you were like me and collected games for all consoles. Even before collecting, I bought games faster than I could beat them and it certainly doesnt help that I love lengthy rpgs. Now that my collection is gone, I still buy too many games but its way easier for me to manage getting through them. Now I do the rpgs at night when my kids go to bed, and pretty much everything else I do throughout the day if have a chance.

What's the point of lying about it? It'd be easier just to find a random picture and claim it was your collection. Knux is 4 reel.
