I loved the Spyro series as a kid. My sister got me into it. However, I was very disappointed by Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night. It was so boring. What happened?

In the PlayStation years, those game were made by Insomniac as one of the most enjoyable and addictive platform game series ever. After that, the series was handed over to Vivendi, which took the series in the wrong direction. That's what happened.
I played the first couple as a kid because my cousin had the PS1. (I had my trusty N64). I never liked them all that much. They just felt soul-less. When you grow up on Super Mario World and Mario 64, you just expect a lot more charm and personality out of your platformers.

No Insomniac, no fun. Also, Enter the Dragonfly was so bad, the developer shat down and only developed S:EtD and a RPG based on Alien that was cancelled.
I liked Spyro 1 and 2 on the Playstation. I was just around the right age for those games when they came out. Also I liked Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2. Crash Team Racing was great but not as good as the Mario Karts it was trying to copy.
I got a PlayStation instead of an N64 because I couldn't figure out the N64 controller (I didn't know what an analog stick was).
Dual shock what.
Dual Shock wasn't wasn't at launch. The original had no analogue stick(s).
I know, I have some of the original controllers. I was just pointing out the irony that he avoided the N64 for its analogue stick, while the PS1 ended up being well-known for its analogue sticks. I hope he knew what analogue sticks were once the Dual Shocks came out, seeing how they ended up being the standard and necessary for many games. Granted, the Dual Shock presents its control scheme in a much friendlier manner than the N64's controller...
Or maybe now he only uses the Wii Remote without a nunchuck or CC because they have analogue sticks.
