What bad things? Super Mario 64 is nearly perfect. The camera has a few minor problems, but otherwise Super Mario 64 is a masterpiece.

Bad:
Graphics (I know its unfair to say that)
Camera
Bowser fights. (In all the 3D games they seem to be bad.)

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Good:
Graphics
3D
Wall jumping
Glitches

Bad:
Camera
Random invisible walls
Lame bosses

The Good:

Gameplay is awesome
Worlds were unique
It set a template for all 3D games

The Bad:

The camera was a bit wonky
Boss battles were a little too easy
The DS port wasn't as good

I'm assuming when you say good graphics you mean for its time............ But it isn't that time anymore.

Maybe I shouldn't have added glitches, but I like the glitches in Super Mario 64 even if it isn't what Nintendo was trying to do.
Have you heard about "Backwards Long Jump"? It makes you skip the last stairs no matter how many stars you have.

I'm tired of all these threads, the opinions contained within just make me angry and sad.

Super Mario 64 is my bestest game ever, but then I don't judge it on today's standards. Whilst playing, I transport myself back to a time of innocence when expectations weren't so, expectant. I take it for what it was, which back then, was ground breaking. <3 Ah Spaghetti...

Pretty much all the "bad" things in SMB64 are only bad when compared with the games that came later. Like the camera issues (which seeem to bother others much more than I), was there any game prior to SMB64 that had a 3D camera even half as good? Nope.

As an aside, SMB64's camera is my standard-bearer for all 3D game-cameras. No modern game should ever have a 3D camera that is not at least on par with SMB64, otherwise, epic fail. And as long as the 3D camera is as good as SMB64, i'm pretty much okay with it.

The damn camera. It ruins the experience for me.

Ya, I've heard about some, like the "get to the top of the castle early" one, but not that particular one. I'll have to try it sometime.

Speed running this game actually added a ton of replay value for me. In order to do a speed run, you need to take advantage of glitches. This is how it's done:
speed run spoiler
Collect 8 stars, fight Bowser.
Go to the basement and collect 7 more stars.
Catch the bunny and use him to glitch through the door leading into the lobby area of the basement.
Use him again to glitch through the second star door (normally requires 30 stars).
Board Bowser's sub (1 more star). Defeat Bowser a second time.
Go to the third floor.
Back-Long-Jump up the stairs to get to the clock room (normally requires 50 stars).
Go through the star door and back-long-jump up the stairs (normally requires 70 stars) to get to the final Bowser stage.
Defeat Bowser. Win.
end spoiler
There was nothing bad about Super Mario 64. There were invisible walls and quite a few graphical glitches, but not expecting to see those in a game from 1996 is pretty ridiculous.
I guess the camera restriction (sometimes you were not allowed to move it, like when it was against a wall) was a little unnecessary, but at least a bad camera angle could be rectified by entering and cancelling the first-person view.

I don't know, I didn't really enjoy it even in it's "prime". I never liked visiting the same world over and over again and have to run through it just for a star then start all over again, but the world hardly changed. We rented it and didn't really enjoy it. On the other hand, DK64, and Banjo Kazzoie filled the role of SM64.

CanisWolfred

Good - Water Levels, character designs, music, charm, easy boss battles

Bad - Controls, camera, every other freakin' level, especially the Lava Levels

The lava world was one of my favorites. I liked it because it actually featured some platform jumping unlike most of the boring worlds.
