Topic: The 2D Fighters Fan Thread

Spent most my day yesterday playing Gundam Wing Endless Duel and got me to thinking we needed a thread for retro fighters. What 2D fighters are your favorite?

Some of my favorite are Street Fighter Alpha 3, Gundam Battle Assault, MvC 2, Xmen Children of the Atom, JoJo's Bizzarre Adventure, and King of Fighters 95

It's not retro, but I really enjoy tatsunoko vs capcom. Especially with the fightstick.

I'm also a fan of the original Mortal Kombat for the SNES, and the new MK on the Vita is pretty great too.

Street Fighter (any of them, though Super Street Fighter II on the SNES is my favorite).

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is definitely my favorite 2D-plane fighter out there. It's not retro, but hey, it shows how much better they've gotten over time.

You lucky son of a gun. I really liked that one.

As for my favorites, my list is endless. There are very few fighters I dislike. I'm currently in love with King of Fighters XIII, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, and Marvel VS. Capcom 2. Also Darkstalkers.

Did anyone ever play Cyberbots Full Metal Madness? I played it on Saturn and it was pretty awesome.

Played some BlazBlue today and haven't played it in awhile. Forgot how damn good that game is.

The only 2D fighter I've ever been into is Mortal Kombat. It's just so gratifying and nostalgic for me to memorize all the specials and fatalities like when I was a kid, and then be able to come home now as a disgruntled, over-worked adult and rip someone's head off. lol

Calamity Trigger on 360

Ouch. You think that version's good, the other version's will probably blow your socks off. (and Guilty Gear will probably seem like a G-dsend).

Yea I know the others are better but that's what I got and its a game still hard to complain about

Not really. The balance in the original completely awful. I usually don't notice that stuff, since I don't play them enough, but I had a huge list of unbalances within a few hours of play just fighting the computer.

I just tend to view it as one that you have to work to master rather than unbalanced I guess

2D Fighters > 3D Fighters

Some of my favorites that I can think of now are...
All the Smash Bros. games, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and 3, and SNK vs. Capcom ( haven't played this game in years!).

Also can't wait to get Injustice next spring!
