Those are two really different games... It probably would've been better to contest between two 2D or two 3D fighters then a 2D and a 3D. Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat or Tekken vs. Dead or Alive would've been more interesting.
I'll go with Tekken though.
Street Fighter: 1
Tekken: 1
Tekken: 2
Street Fighter: 1
I prefer Tekken SO much more. I think the character designs are more creative and therefore like them more in Tekken. People say it's a button masher, but that's not true it may have simpler input commands and button configurations but it still takes skill to be good at it. I've been playing Tekken since 2. Just like it more. Also RAWWWRRR Anna and Lilly!
Fighting games aren't among my preferred genres, generally speaking, but I've had more fun with Tekken over the years, if only because I've admittedly had more chances to play it than Street Fighter, so I'll give it my vote.
i'm in 2 minds with this because for starters, streetfighter is 2D and tekken is 3D. ideally, if you're going to pit streetfighter with another fighting game, maybe it would be better to go for king of fighters or blazblue or guilty gear. and tekken you can compare with virtua fighter and dead or alive.
tekken is good and streetfighter 4 was all right, but i prefer virtua fighter over those 2. if i were to pick out of tekken and streetfighter, then i would go for ..... tekken. seeing as it is one series that doesn't have multiple versions released every year. unlike SF.

You are making picking a title look so hard. Tekken is somewhat more realistic than Street Fighter. Tekken also uses more combo moves in order to win. With that said, Street Fighter is more simplistic and offers a little more variety than Tekken.
I realize Street Fighter and Tekken are different games, how could the better series be picked if they were both the same? Its the fact that the series have rivaled each other for quite a long time. Battling for the title as the king of fighters. I thought since the others mentioned weren't as popular, they wouldn't get as many votes put in.
Actually, Tekken and Street Fighter were never rivals. Street Fighter's rival has always been Fatal Fury and King of Fighters. It's one of the most famouse video game rivalries out there, where they started riffing off of eachother's characters just to poke fun at the other. To a lesser extent, there's also Mortal Kombat, but that was mostly an American thing.
Tekken's rivals have always been Virtua Fighter, and to a minor extent, DOA. That one isn't as famous, though.
Tekken and Street Fighter were always considered equivilents, actually, since at they both go for a "realistic" interpretation of fighting. They're still very different games, though, so it really just comes down to which genre you prefer.
@Mickeymac, well said. I meant to say they rivaled each other for the title as the best fighter, that's just my opinion though, basing it off of the thoughts I've seen around the internet. People usually hold those two series as the best of the best.
