I was talking with a friend of mine who started to reminisce about the NES with me and about the magic that he felt when he played SMB for the first time. I felt that same magic too and it was fun to discuss memories of playing the game for the first time. I wish everyone would go back and experience this game for the first time, especially since it's truly a landmark in gaming history. I remember being blown away by it's mystical feeling of unknown, it was like anywhere I jumped it could lead to a hidden item.

Anyone have any memories or stories surrounding SMB for the NES they'd like to share? I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves this game dearly and recognizes it's rich history.

This game is a masterpiece. When I was playing this one as a kid, I got stuck in one of the castle levels which I think is level 2-4 or 3-4 where this would be looped. I never figured out what you're suppose to do there and so I quit thinking that the game was broken. When I played New Super Mario Bros with this same thing happening, I figured out that you were suppose to go to the right path. I played the old again but got tired of it due to it not having a game over. So I decided to do the speed run so I can finish this masterpiece.

I want to get Super Mario Bros Deluxe so I can play this beauty game again.

I would always try to beat the game with the Warp Rooms, but I never ever got past 8-1. My family knew about the Warp Rooms and all kinds of cheats and secrets, and I just never did anything but try to beat the game with them. I just wanted the satisfaction of saying that I beat Super Mario Bros.
