Definitely. It's entirely unmodified, save for Minus World (they fixed that one). You can still hold B to continue where you left off. If you had Super Mario Land as a kid, this is far better. The Classic NES Series is awesome, with almost no updates. The Donkey Kong port has a "save high score" feature.

I actually prefer the Game Boy Color DX version. It doesn't have the ability to play the original in 2 player mode but there is a different multiplayer mode with new special levels and challenges, and some pretty rad unlockables.
I'd get SMB DX on the Game Boy Color if I were you. It's got a ton of neat extras, like the AMAZING challenge mode and the Lost Levels (albeit in modified form). SMB on the GBA is nothing more than a straight-up port, and it was squished to fit the GBAs screen, so it looks like ass too.
