Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World are two classic Mario games that have both received very positive reviews. In fact, they are often considered by many as two of the best games in the Mario franchise. The question is, which one is better? In the following, I will analize both games, then state my opinion. Please let me know which game you prefer in the comments.

Super Mario Bros. 3- Since it came first, I figured we'd start with Super Mario Bros, 3. The game is pretty long to be an NES title. It has eight different worlds, including a desert, a snow world, and even a world where everything is huge! It also introduced the Koopalings to the Mario series. It has several different items, including the Raccoon Suit, Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit, Hammer Suit, and more. It also let you store several items in your inventory for later use, while SMW only let you hang on to one extra item. Super Mario Bros. 3 is easily my favorite videogame of the NES era.

Super Mario World- Super Mario World is best known for introducing the lovable dinosaur with a big appetite, Yoshi, to the Mario franchise. Since then, Yoshi has appeared in several other Mario games and has even had a few games of his own (with two more on the way). The game only had one new power-up, the Cape Feather. It acted similarly to SMB3's Raccoon Suit, enabling the player to fly. It's a shame the Cape Feather only reappeared in Super Mario Kart. Unlike Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World lets you replay levels and worlds you've already beaten. Since it's a Super Nintendo title, the game obviously has superior graphics. I'd have to say that it's my favorite SNES game.

While it's really hard to choose between the two games, I'd have to say that I slightly favor one over the other. Let's take a moment to review: Super Mario Bros. 3 has more diverse locations, varying from deserts to snow worlds and more. It also has more power-ups and introduced the Koopalings. Super Mario World let you replay beaten levels and introduced Yoshi to the series. In my opinion, SMW has better level design.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... It was an incredibly tough choice, but my favorite of the two Mario games is... Super Mario World!
