Super Mario Advance (Super Mario Bros. 2) was my first game I truly loved. Haters gonna hate, but for me, Super Mario Bros. 2 is more than a game, it was a key part of my childhood.
I'm gonna get my a** kicked for this, but... this is my favorite Mario game.
Kick
My Fav Mario game is Sunshine,.............don't kill me.

I loved this game growing up. I played it constantly and i was one of the few people who played Luigi on a regular basis. Was anyone's favorite character actually mario though?
I always play SMB2 as Princess. She is a slow pull, but you can't beat the ability to float! I wish she was in SMB3! Who at nintendo could make that happen, like Sonic 3 getting Knuckles.

I used to love it as a kid but when I came back to it on the vc I was a bit disappointed. I would be more interested in playing through Doki Doki Panic if it was released as a Hanabi title.
I'm with you guys! SMB2 is and has always been my absolute favorite of the old school super mario games. What I love is that the differences between Mario and Luigi in terms of graphics and the physics of running (mario faster, luigi slower) jumping (mario lower, luigi higher), turning (mario quicker, luigi more slippery) etc...come directly from SMB2 to the Galaxy games. SMB2 is the first mario game to have a power meter (which came back w/ super mario 64). It was the first to give us some now classic world aesthetics in the way that the desert and ice levels look and operate. I'm sure the list goes on. What I'm sayin' is SMB2 was HUGELY influential to the overall canon of all the super mario world and certainly deserves its due.
I mean I like Super Mario Bros 2 USA (especially the vegetable throwing and enemy design) but I thought the level design in Super Mario Bros 2 JPN was just brilliant. Incredibly, unfair, mad scientist brilliant. But I like that sort of thing. Completing each level is a major victory--an incredible feat of platforming skill. Super Mario Bros 2 USA just wasn't as satisfying for me. But I do like it. I like it a lot.
