Topic: Strange Border Color Appearing on NES Games

Hi all. Recently I have noticed that there is an even border on all of NES games when playing them. The left border seems to be larger than the right one and it seems to always be the same color as some background color that is being displayed at any particular moment.

Here are some images so you know what i'm talking about.

I have tried switching the 72 pin connector and I have cleaned all of my games.
I'm starting to think this could be do some faulty capacitors.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

As far as I know that's just how NES games are.

Yup, especially on LED screens that don't have great scalers built in.

@kbeher Perfectly normal. Maybe you had played before on a CRT, which usually hide the edges of the screen (something known as "overscan"). Which is would be why they wouldn't have been considered an issue when they were first made.

Oh wow. Thanks guys. @Satna @KingMike @Eel

I thought my mother board was broken! lol

Guess I'll just have to save up for an upscaler!

@kbeher Don't bother, at the cost of a upscaler you could just about get a 50' 4k tv from Amazon (TCL Brand), that have built in upscalers that in my experience work well.

Really? I'll have to check that out.

I was thinking of getting a framemeister so I could upscale all my retro consoles. NES, SNES, N64, GC, PS2, etc. It seems pricey but worth it.
