I REALLY want this game... (The unreleased SNES game.) The only way to play this is illegaly Who knows that i will see this one some day with VC or other way...
Do you also wish to play SFo2 in a legal form on a home console?
Supposedly the DS game is very similar to Star Fox 2. I barely played the emulated version long ago. I had to give up though because I didn't know what was going on. It just isn't polished enough to be enjoyable, from what I could tell (though that could be the emulator's fault). I'll have to give it another shot some time. My list of games to retry keeps adding up.
I thought Command was decent. I enjoyed getting the different endings, and the last fight was pretty fun. No lasting appeal though, and multi-player was awful.
In fact, on a side note, despite many, many fond memories of Star Fox 64 battles, I've recently played versus again on VC and could not believe I ever enjoyed that. Single-player still rocks of course.
Nintendo have stated time and time again in the last 13 years that they have no intention of ever releasing Star Fox 2 officially. If they could they would probably like to not even acknowledge its existence. So there's really no reason why you should be that law abiding. Just download it already and enjoy yourself.
To be honest, I would be happy to at least see the original Star Fox on the VC. We have SF64, so I know it is inevitable, but yeah, since I have never played SF2, would be interesting to give it a go.

Adam, i don't know if you used it, but there is a patch out there that fixes the missing gameplay elements, remove "debug" options and "windows", and translate the game. But well here's the info ´
@Djungelurban "If they could they would probably like to not even acknowledge its existence" Well Nintendo don't want to release other Mother aroud here for example so i guess they wouldn't think about releasing this. But if they don't want to acknowledge its existence they wouldn't chage the name of that GC Star Fox that were going to be called "Star Fox 2".
Personally, I'd love to see it. It can't be any worse than the Star Fox we've been getting for the longest time, even if it isn't completely finished.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@PhoenixSage Oh, it's finished alright... There's some minor bug fixes to be done but seeing as Gideon Zhi sorted that out in a like a week they don't seem to be that tricky to work out. Regardless though, it won't be better than the ROM version in any case since it wouldn't be translated anyway.
Oh, is it finished? I was under the impression that it still had some work needed to be done. In that case, I do really hope we get it someday. It would be awesome.

It's like Seiken Densetsu 3. People have played it, fans have translated it, and people have said they'd be willing to pay for it, but the company for some reason stubbornly refuses to release the damn thing. Games companies are weird sometimes about things, SD3, Mother/Earthbound and Starfox 2 being prime examples. I just think it's odd, surely even if they had lowish sales they'd still make a profit releasing it on VC, all they have to do is pay a translator and some guy in one of the R&D departments whose on a day off or not doing much.
edit As a side note, is Starfox 64's (Lylatwars') menu music not the most relaxing piece of music around? I just find it so soothing, gives me visions of just floating peacefully in space...

If it's 100 extra points for an import game, is 200 extra points fair for a 'never released game'?

That'd put it at 1000 points over here in PAL-land which is the same as an N64 game, if it was that much I'd be annoyed. Still annoyed that us Pal-ites have to pay extra for more games (like Mario RPG) because we got shafted in the past with releases, it's like getting shafted twice really. heh.
