Topic: Spending Money on Old vs New

I never thought about it much till now, but I'm kind of starting to feel bad about spending so much money on retro games instead of supporting the new stuff coming out, especially on the wii u. Also considering that buying used nintendo stuff doesn't make any profit for them at all. I've recently fleshed out my gamecube collection like crazy, and I want to focus more on new stuff for now.

I don't feel bad on spending my money on the old stuff. The old stuff has replay value for me whereas the new is usually one and done.

It is always good to buy retro games as they should never be forgotten and their are many games out their that you may have missed over time. Its always good to catch up on the games you didn't get round to playing.

That would be because Kirby games are awesome.

If you guys are really serious about supporting your company then try to buy some of their shares. (I'm both kidding and serious.) But the worst as we gamers can do is to support digital. Digital games have a lot of contribution margin compared to physical copies. After all you need to pay for materials and manufacturing for physical copies when digital games do not needed to be manufactured. In other word, Nintendo can get a lot more of their money from digital copy compared to physical copy.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

buy everything old. its cheaper, and sooner or later, whats new now will be old later, and it'll be cheaper. i didn't pay $30+ dollars for SMW on SNES when it was new, i paid $.90 for it old.

Yes this is a very bad thing and you must rectify it immediately!

...but Kirby is my favorite video game series ever, so... I'm at least slightly biased.

I paid zero, and then my parents had to repay $30 to buy it new when someone stole my games. Too bad they threw out the box of the replacement copy, that's probably worth a fortune now!

To be perfectly honest, I don't really care whether buying retro games grants any more money to Nintendo as a company, because I'm not a fan of "consumer loyalty". I buy what I like, and while most of that in the gaming arena is associated with Nintendo, I'm not about to pass up a good game at a flea market, just because they aren't getting anything from the sale after 20+ years.

well now for an on-topic answer
if it's good and I think the price is fair I'll pay for either new or old
