Super Metroid. Get it. It's honestly one of the best games I've ever played.

Also, Final Fantasy II (IV) is a great RPG, though it starts out a bit slow. If you push through the first couple hours, though, it picks up and becomes fantastically fun. :3

3.
Nearly half of the games the Snes has are must-haves.

I would recommend Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV, Super Mario RPG, F-Zero, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, and Tetris Attack.

It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know.

Mario34 said he had StarWing, the European version of StarFox. What if he has a PAL SNES?

Thanks for pointing that out.

I would have to disagree, most games on the SNES are the best in it's series, such Final Fantasy 6, Contra 3 and Castlevania. I found that PS1 was much better than the over rated PS2.

Currently Playing:
Zelda II: Adventure of Link

Saber

snes doesn't have any good rpgs beside mario games and over rated final fantasy games

Ps2 has about 2x the size the library of the snes and plus ps2 can play ps1. Also many of the old snes games can be found as remakes on the gba, so I guess that makes the gba and ps2 the best

@Rondo - SoulBlazer, Chrono Trigger, Wanderers from Ys: Ys III, Arcana, Secret of Mana, and Breath of Fire are all good SNES RPGs.

Kingdom hearts, tales of the abyss,reberth,legia,FFX,FF12,Kingdom hearts 2,dark cloud, star ocean These games also last like 60hrs paired to the old games. I have never seen a snes game last that long

Plus all those games are on the gba and that is handled so it is way better then snes So like I said the PS2 and GBA are the best XD

Some may disagree. But, to each his own.
I like the SNES console the most.

I got a Super Nintendo not too long ago and need help with some questions.

1. On the back of the games it says that it must be cleaned regularly and I don't know how to do this?

You only really need to clean if the copper tracks become dirty (I can't remember how to spell the technical word ) due to moisture and copper. This will usually cause the game not to boot and blowing in the cartridge only temporally fixes the problem.

Follow this video for details on cleaning cartridges: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4SCpHgWvhI

It worked like a treat when my brother brought Sonic & Knuckles (just the cartridge) and the contract were filled with a lot of moist.

Get Super Metroid ASAP...

I know I shouldn't bring this into a comparison debate, but I can't resist.
Having 2x the library isn't necessarily better. It probably means the library is just more bloated with crap games. I'm not hating on the two systems, it's just an inevitable result of any popular console. I enjoy my SNES as well as my GBA and PS2. But can anybody say in all honesty they'd enjoy playing completely through more than 20% of the entire library (every released game) of any one of those consoles?

I wouldn't say 60+ hours is always a good thing. If they can give us 60+ hours of exciting gameplay, that's awesome. But FFX's monster-hunting subquest is kinda dull (kill 10 of every enemy in the game, even the ones with low spawn rates), not to mention farming materials from enemies to enhance armor to have a remote chance of killing the super-bosses. I've actually played FFX more often than I'd thought I would, but there's a reason I still like to play a quicker game like FF4.
I really enjoyed Dark Cloud 1, but after about 30 hours in, I was just grinding the weapons of characters I didn't really care about just so I could get past those stupid forced-character floors. The rest of the game was like an improved clone of SoulBlazer for SNES (a great series Square-Enix needs to do a good revival of).

I wouldn't blindly consider all GBA ports of SNES games to be superior.
Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's groaning is the second most annoying sound effect ever and I'd rather play the version that does not include it.
I don't mind Link's heee-yaas, but I hear some people find it annoying enough to not play the GBA version of ALttP.
While FF6 Advance is a less buggy experience, it suffers from poor music (though some have said the GBA sound chip itself just wasn't up to the task) and slowdown. (and I've been told the PS1 version of FF6 suffers from loading time. I'd believe it after playing CT and FF5. I beat CT several times on the SNES but the loading time was so annoying I couldn't bring myself to finish the PS1 version even once.)

I guess if I were to suggest good RPGs on the SNES (though honestly, most RPGs on the SNES were NTSC-exclusive. I think the only turn-based games to get a PAL release were Breath of Fire II (though I've heard that version was comparatively rare, possibly relating to its English-only release), Lufia II (dropped the number since 1 wasn't released in PAL) and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (renamed Mystic Quest Legend).
Breath of Fire II. I enjoyed #1, but I'll admit it was pretty mediocre. The town-building and shaman systems were nice customization touches. But it's a shame that most of the shamans aren't found until near the end of the game.
Lufia I and II. Honestly, 1 had a pretty bad combat system and average graphics, but it's writing was excellent for SNES standards and it had some good music. Lufia II introduced monster friends that you could feed to make them evolve (although that feature was slightly bugged in the NA version). They were both pretty long games (over 20 hours, even if you know how to finish them.) I liked the puzzle-heavy dungeons in II, though I know some people detested them.
I thought Paladin's Quest concept of using HP for magic added a bit more strategy. Nice, if you don't mind the odd graphics style and questionable translation (nearly-indecipherable item names )
