Topic: So I just got Sonic Adventure DX for Gamecube...

Big mistake. I've been in a Sonic mood lately, so I figured I'd pick up a 3-D sonic for the gamecube (since they're the cheapest). I got Sonic Adventure DX. It's kind of a disaster. The camera is broken, the controls are too touchy, and I'm never entirely sure what's going on. Not only that, but the game looks like garbage. I realize it's a Dreamcast port, but boy they really didn't do anything to bump up the graphics did they? I liked Sonic Heroes and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and I really like Secret Rings for Wii but this is just awful.

Is it just me or is the game really that bad? Do I just need to give it more time?

I've always heard that none of the 3-D Sonic games are any good. I haven't played a Sonic game since the Genesis days.

I think you should give it more time. Sure, by today's standards it's hardly brilliant but I found it quite enjoyable.

One of the best of the sonic 3D games but thats not really saying much...

Well the only thing they really updated were playable character models. Otherwise everything is the same.
As far as gameplay and mechanics go, you are right, but as most sonic 3d games, you kinda get use to it/ look past it, and have some fun. That said, as a port, considering, they could have touched it up a bit more, rather then add 50 missions.

Due to the camera issues this game gives me a bad motion sickness, so you could say I just bought it for my Sonic games collection and the extra gamegear games , but it ain't that bad, it just hasn't aged well, give it some time.

Personally, I think Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is the best 3D Sonic game, and is one of the few 3D Sonic games I actually enjoy.

I rented Sonic Unleashed. It's actually a lot of fun--the daytime levels are the best 3-D sonic levels in the franchise history. The werehog levels aren't very good, but not nearly as bad as people were making them out to be.

I was rooting for that game when it came out for Dreamcast. Of course back then it was a big deal for me when my favorite characters go 3D.

It's a fun game, had some good music, but nothing will ever top the 2D ones.

Sonic adventure (Dreamcast) is my favorite 3d Sonic game...actually it's the only 3d Sonic game I like...The Gamecube port has more glitches but it still provide some of the goods the original have: Excellent gameplay (especially for Sonic), level designs and boss battles and there's no werehog, swords or leveling up. plus it's the less cheesy of the 3d Sonic game although it's not saying much

Why do they need voices?

I've been hating on Sonic Team for years (and I'm a huge Sonic fan). But I consider Sonic Adventure 1/2 the last great games. I can't agree with you on the game OP. The GCN SA2 didn't get a graphics bump either, never underestimate the Dreamcast.

Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast is one my most beloved games. It's too bad you don't like it. I'm not sure when you first got into the Sonic series, but I think few people would enjoy that game besides those who grew up with Sonic on Genesis. If you had started off on the Genesis and then moved onto the Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure would surely be a better experience for you.

I think Sonic Adventure (for Dreamcast) is the only good 3D Sonic game by the way. But the series is tailored for a new generation nowadays.

How come no one likes sonic adventure 2? I think that's one of the best, if not the best sonic games.

Sonic adventure 2 is not a bad game (great sonic levels in there...with cheesy music), except that it's the game that paved the way for the new generation of sonic fans, The old school charm found in the original Sonic adventure was absent from SA2, plus it also impose alot of unwanted characters and gimmick which would be amplified in the sequels

What character has his name in the title of that game? How much of that character do you get to play in the game?

I really dont get whats going on with sonic team if it was just about makeing money they coud easaly pop out some 2D games for wii-ware or the hand helds and sell a ton of copies without even trying and yet they keep trying to do something new...
