Topic: SNES + Modern TV 4:3

Hey retro fans,

I have an opportunity to inherit a SNES from a friend. But before I accept it and have them ship the SNES I want to make sure my 16:9 TV will display the image properly.

I'd be using the standard RCA yellow, red, white cables into my Samsung TV (UN32F5000)

I've searched youtube and found that most of the time when someone hooks up their SNES to a modern TV it stretches the image. But in a few videos I've seen, it's kept the 4:3 ratio which I prefer.

If I get the SNES hooked up via the RCA cables, will my TV display it stretched or in the proper ratio?

Any insight into this is greatly appreciated!

There's probably menus on your TV to change the aspect ratio (maybe even a button on the remote).

Pretty much all Modern TVs have an option to set the image to 4:3 or 16:9 ratio for non-HDMI connections.
