God bless you all... I'm always wondering if Square-Enix will launch some day a remake of Final Fantasy VI. I played that game in my childhood when SNES was the best console around. Final Fantasy VI not only had the best music and graphics... is still (for me) the best RPG ever played. Do you think that we will have a better remake of that game? Do you think that will be better than the SNES version? In which console do you think that will fit, 3DS, Wii U, IOS, PS4? I want to know your opinion... Thanks!!!
The GBA port had a new translation, so at the moment it is the best available version.
I wouldn't mind seeing a remake that is very sympathetic to the original, so uses pixel art and retains the overall aesthetic feel. The anniversary remakes of FF1, 2 and 4 on the PSP were very good in that respect. A full 3D remake of VI would be horrible.
Granted, it's Final Fantasy Vi, there's no way they could be true to the game and it wouldn't be horrible. But at least the graphics wouldn't make my eyes burn.
I would say... since I have a lot of feelings involved in the SNES version... They should do a sprite based remake... and in music, they should only upgrade some of the midi instruments... so, an iOS version should be enough for me.
A 3d remake would be pretty neat. If I want the sprite version, I can always play the SNES or GBA versions.
I didn't mind FF3 and 4's remakes on the ds. 5 and 6 getting the same treatment would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, I know... The thing is that I would be happy if they at least do a remake based on HD sprites. If they decide to do a 3D version of the game, that is another story, and I lose the faith in that... That game is huge, there is a lot of work to do to create a 3D version of the game. Also, FFVI and VII are the best games of the series in my opinion, so they are classics... Square-Enix don't want to mess with the ranking of those two.

Squaresoft actually did a 3D game with sprites back in the day, called Xenogears. Though I personally don't enjoy Xenogears, I thought that style was excellent. Maybe they could make that work again for a good compromise? Not sure on the logistics of this, but, hey, it was worth a mention.
I used to be all for remakes and ports of the older Final Fantasy games. I have gotten ports of Final Fantasys IV, V, and VI for the PSX. I also have ports of IV and VI for the GBA. But I don't like the direction Square Enix has been going with their Final Fantasy games, and suddenly I find myself going against seeing remakes and ports of the classic games for the fear that they may screw them up.
If there are plans to remake Final Fantasy VI, then Square-Enix should do to it what they did with Final Fantasy IV for Final Fantasy IV Collection on the PSP: update the visuals and character sprites but keep the 2D intact.
There are news for this... It is official that they will launch FFVI for iOS and android =) It will be something in 2D, but is totally fine... In that way the possibility to mess up the game are less. =)
