Topic: Should I keep GBA for the Gamecube?

I have been considering selling all my GBA games, because most of them that I have or want have been released on the eShop, or have remakes. Just need the Fire Emblem games to release in North America! I have thought about selling my Game Boy Player and GBA SP. Main reason I would consider keeping just the system is certain Gamecube games utilize the GBA when plugged in. Is there anything that really warrants keeping it? The biggest example that I could think of was Zelda Four Swords Adventures, but even then you don't have to have it to play single player. Also haven't used any bonuses with Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance. Any others that make it worthwhile to keep?

Animal Crossing and the Pokémon games (Colosseum & XD) make use of the GBA as well.

The Pokemon games aren't a huge deal breaker, I am selling my Emerald & Sapphire games to get the new 3DS remake. Did Animal Crossing do anything with it besides the Island?

Just the island iirc.

Now that I've come to think of it; Wind Waker has the Tingle Tuner, which requires a GBA. Metroid Prime unlocks the Fusion Suit if you have Metroid Fusion as well, but that's just an aesthetic difference.

keep everything. that's what I've learned when it comes to Nintendo. i wouldn't sell Emerald and Sapphire just for the remakes - there will probably come a time down the line where you feel like playing the classics without the done up prettyness. I went through that with the originals and with Gold/Silver and their remakes.

if you're strapped for cash or whatever I'd say at least keep one device that can play GBA games, don't sell them all. eShop is nice but there is always a place for an extra piece of hardware you can whip out - you don't want to depend on 3DS battery for all your portable gaming needs. I keep a Game Boy Micro and a USB charger cord in my backpack for ''emergencies''

everyone needs to relax and enjoy the games that are released today and stop worrying what Nintendo will do in a year or two from now.

The Gameboy Player is a pretty common to find add-on device. But the DISC you need to run the thing is getting scarcer and scarcer. Being able to play GBA games on your TV is a super useful thing to have. Its the main reason I keep my Cube even though I play all my Cube games on my Wii.

If you have a working system and the disc, I would hang on to it.

It also had e-reader support.

I second that, never get rid of hard copies.

I"m guessing your'e younger right? The people who grew up having the choice of just the non physical copy are living in a lie they've been spoon fed by various industries (gaming, kindle books, etc) that you're paying for what you want. You are not.

You're paying for the right to use what you paid for until they see fit you're no longer allowed to have it. Licenses can expire, games(etc) can be pulled, disputes can pop up, networks can change over time. Lots of things can cause a game you buy online to up and vanish, and short of GoG.com for PC where you can keep a hard copy you make yourself, you're at the mercy of the system. A few years back Amazon got sued and lost because they decided to pull ironically Orwells 1984 from the Kindle, but in doing so they also STOLE all the legit copies people paid for off their Kindles through a wifi signal to do so. Recently this happened again on Apple IOS, the Sega Master System game Golvellius was removed in the last few months, anyone who had this game in their account as paid for had it stolen from them. I had it stolen from me and couldn't download it again when I got a new iPhone 5S (had been without an iDevice for about a year.)

Never trust any of these f'n companies to honor your purchases. They call them purchases, they call them digital downloads, THEY ARE NOT. They literally are long term digital rentals. You are renting permission to use a game for an undefined amount of time that can expire at any time, and when it does, you lose your money and your game. How long do you think Nintendo will honor Wii downloads? What if your old Wii breaks in 3 years, and you have them repair it and it's wiped, then you go and want to get your stuff back and the Wii VC/shop is offline — bye bye hundreds of dollars of games.
