Topic: Should I hook up my old consoles?

I'm quite the minimalist and I hate having more than one games console under my TV. I have the Wii and that's it - the others are stored away with all their games. However I've been getting the urge to revisit some old titles - especially those on the Dreamcast.

Is there anyone else like me who can't stand the sight of multiple consoles under their TV but does it anyway? Do you just take them out and set them up on a day where you really fancy playing one of their titles or do you have them there permanently? I'm just curious what other people do - there's some titles I'd love to play again but can never be bothered to set the old systems up and I don't want my TV area cluttered up, or me just looking like a complete spod when I have guests round.

I have my 360 sitting by my family room couch for when I want to play Forza, PGR, or Banjo-Kazooie. I keep my Wii to the left of my TV cabinet, and my SNES is to the right. My NES and Genesis require R/F switches, so they are in my bedroom, where I have an old, 90s portable TV. I also keep my N64 in there, although it would be nice to bring it out to the family room once in a while.

I don't mind having more than one console hooked up, but to reduce any clutter you can just hook up your old console to another tv, if you have one.

I have a Wii(which i keep beside by TV Stand, standing up) a PS3(which I basically use for Bluray/DVD's ;p ), a 7.1 SS Receiver and DVD Player under my main TV, along with a Black GameCube(Which isn't hooked up, but it's there because without it there would be an empty space out of the 4 Spaces)
Everything is hooked up to my Sony 7.1 Receiver for 5.1 Surround sound....Seriously if you're not using component cables for your Wii or getting DPL II 5.1 Surround Sound you are SOOOO missing out. I sometimes use a pair of $250 Seinhezier(totaly spelt that wrong) Headphones and they're fantastic.

My NES and Snes are hooked up to a smaller 27" CRT TV. I'm not a big fan of clutter either and I'm also a neat freak. My place looks rather California-beachy and colorful. I need a couple more colorful crazy trippy abstract Paintings hehe.

Also, I hate wires. If there's a chance to go wireless I totaly will. If not, I hide the Wires in the best possible way so they're not visable. I'm all about how my place and so on looks. I love beautiful things hehe.

Anyways what's annoying is the Wii Nunchuck....I wish it were Wireless. Not only that but the batteries it would have to use would give it more weight and would make it feel better in the hand. And if Nintendo were to release a Wii Remote with built in MotionPlus I would sell all 3 of my Wii Remotes and upgrade ;p I also hate the Wii Wrist straps, i take them out and I don't use the Wii Jackets either.

The Television that I have the Wii hooked up, I have switches that I use to play of game consoles on. The television that has a Wii hooked up, I also have a top loading Nes, Playstation 2, Sega Genesis model 1/32x.

My other Television set, I have a Sega Saturn, Game Cube, Playstation one, and my Sega Dreamcast hooked up permanently with them being hooked up on a AV switch box. I also use the television set for the Tg-16,Sms, Snes, and the Atari 7800.

I have my Wii, Gamecube, N64, Snes, and 8-bit Nes hooked up on my HDTV. 3 of them displaying in s-video, and two in progressive scan. I love every minute of it.

Not more than two or three, otherwise it becomes cluttered.

Percentful

My wii, 64, and Xbox are all always connected to the TV. I hate having them just sitting on the ground, so we have a TV stand with sections.

Just let it happen.

Well I do have a nice TV area with plenty of compartments to put consoles but I like it to be empty with just my DVD player and Wii on the top compartments. I also have a spare room, which has a TV in it, so I could use it as a game room but I prefer to do my gaming on the big screen downstairs.

I'm going to give it a try and hook up 2 retro consoles to the TV in the living room and see how it looks. There's a chance I may just get bored of them after a couple of hours of play and put them away. I'd really love to get over this one console thing - I'd probably get a 360 if I did.
