Hey, guys! I just got shadow the hedgehog yesterday, and it's great! I keep flaking out on the alien dude, though. So, just talk about the shadow the hedgehog game.

Ah. Shadow the Hedgehog. That game dared to be different from the rest of the Sonic games. The dark color pallete (contrast to the green hills and sunny days of the older games and newer games.), probably the darkest story in the series (even if some of it will get a bit ridiculous further in the game....), use of firearms (for a series that known for fast-paced action, it handles it pretty well for the most part. The variety of weapons is not too shabby either.) And the fact that it's the first and only game in the series (unless you count Secret rings and Adventure DX....sorta....) to include cursing (in a cheesy kind of way.)
The one sonic game that was different from the rest.
I didn't like it from the other sonic games I played and beaten. (and I'm pretty sure others share the same thing.)
Though there can be fans of this game and I'm surprised to see one of 'em, how are you liking it so far?
@Angel It's awesome! How much was it? I got it on ebay for $12.49. The only thing I hate about the game is that when you fall off or get hit he says the d word. I like the feeling of killing the humans and causing chaos! I like using guns!

@Mariobro4 It's great! I already beat the neutral mode. Now I'm trying for dark. I thinks it's good that it's different from the other games! I get tired of playing different sonic games that are basically the same!

I also find the game among my favorites, but for a rather different reason than simply killing people and using guns. u_u

The fact that it's actually well put together (unlike 06), you can choose your morality, Shadow plays relatively differently than sonic, I actually enjoyed the story, and the separate path mechanic complimented the morality idea quite well, making certain pathways harder than others.

@Happy_Mask My only gripe with the story is that "Last Story" segment, which effectively obliterates the importance of your decisions.
Besides, the game was non-canon to begin with. Why not go insane all the way?
To my knowledge it was semi-canonical to begin with, but SEGA decided to make that one of the few games disowned by the franchise.
And I believe that everybody just wanted a super sonic segment, and apparently 3 different ones would be too much work.

@Happy_Mask I don't think anyone wanted the game in the first place. I'm not saying you couldn't have enjoyed it, but that never felt like an urgent demand.
I'm probably gonna get a lot of flack for this, but...
I had some genuine fun with Shadow the Hedgehog. The game came through the mail today, and I booted it up inking this would be the worst thing ever,and I came out pretty satisfied.
My only real gripes are the camera (a reoccurring flaw in Sonic games. I blame the characters' speeds) and the unnecessary pitfalls. The controls are a little buttery, but they're not any different from how Shadow is usually portrayed (with the exception of SA2, but he controls just like Sonic in that game, throwing variety out the window). Sure, they're a little buttery at times, but I got used to them. Now, I can recognize the difference between bad and tight controls, but the controls here aren't any different from what I imagined. Of course, there are some really BS moments and glitches, as to be expected by all pre-Unleashed Sonic games.
The "choose-your-own-adventure" gimmick works, and it isn't the most developed thing in the world, nor does it have to be. It's just: "do this or do that", and I like it. It does change the course of things in the long run, but in the short term, it's clear and to the point.
The guns in this game are the kind of thing in game design where the moment you suck it up, you realize they aren't too bad and can be quite helpful/fun (I love blowing everything up with them).
Overall, this is in no way a perfect game, but I had fun, and that's what matters. It's definitely something I'd recommend picking up cheap to try and test it out yourself.
