I'm watching a playthrough of Myst IV, and it was revealed that the "trap books" that Syrrus and Achenar were imprisoned in were merely prison books, and could not have instantly switched the prisoner with the Stranger. The guys at Cyan explained that the trap books in Riven were merely artistic license.

Hahaha what? I didn't play Myst and tried Riven for about 5 minutes. I'm sure there a lot of games that contradict the previous installments though at the same time there are so many games that plug in the exact same formula and are really just an extension of the previous game.
Nintendo is a bit more tricky. Zelda games take place in another time (more like alternate universe) and Mario games are all over the place. I do wonder how new powerups constantly appear in Mario games and why older ones disappear, and why is there a helicopter & a raccoon tail for flying and why was the world more complex when Mario was a baby then his first introduction as an adult?
also I've never felt PM:TTYD was that much like a Mario game compared to the other RPGS. The story is way too good/dark and doesn't take place anywhere that is particularly typical Mario outside of the beginning of chapter 1.
@kkslider Umm, how do Star Fox Adventures and Metroid Other M contradict the entire series? Star Fox doesn't have much of a plot other than to kill a giant monkey head at the end. Metroid Other M takes off straight from Super Metroid, so I don't understand what you mean.

Don't agree with any of what you say and I have completed all three series.
There might be games that contradict themselves with their storyline, because license was pushed around to different teams or something, but fortunately I haven't played any of these games.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
So you mean story-wise as opposed to gameplay-wise? I think gameplay was what kkslider was working with.
Yes. I really don't care as long as it's fun and stuff but I just named the games everyone would.
Also Epic Yarn. Outside of Dreamland Kirby platformers are best known for copy abilities. This didn't have copy abilities. It's a great game but the only reason it's a Kirby game is to make money because people are too dumb to buy original Wii games.
Hearing Samus talk in Other M makes mah hair hurttt!!! What a dreadful game and entry into the Metroid franchise. Being so horrid is why it's contradictory, cuz every other title is full of absolute win!!!

That was explained in the opening cutscenes. Kirby was transformed into yarn, so the air goes right through him if he tries to suck anything up.
However, you are basically correct concerning the real-world reason. It wasn't originally designed to be a Kirby game.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Because Starfox fans were very disappointed that this game's gameplay was horrible and had a lack of Arwing and Landmaster use.
The UAA shouldn't exist and Sylvia shouldn't be there either.
YES. I honestly don't know why there was a sequel afterowrds, but I'm not complaining. Also, I guess I could say that Golden Sun: Dark Dawn on some levels. Granted, I love Golden Sun Dark: Dawn, but there were some things about it that just seemed off about the series. Maybe it could be corrected and explained better in the inevitable sequel, but until then....
(Also, if we aren't talking about games, then HighLander 2 has to be on this list)
FF6: Release year- 1994 Kefka's birthday - November 9th So.... my life is practically mirroring Kefka? Cool.

Oh yes, very contradictory...
