Topic: Sega Dreamcast Games

Yesterday, I found myself a Sega Dreamcast, and I haven't done anything else but play it . The games I got are Shenmue, Gauntlet Legends, Sonic Adventure 2, and last and least, NBA 2K. Considering that I'm not getting it modded, and not getting any M-rated games, what are the best games for the console?

Crazy Taxi, you could get that.

I've not played many better tennis games than Virtua Tennis, you could get that if you don't mind it being very out of date (Hewitt is good in that version).

I've never played it, but Jet Set Radio is highly thought of.

Power Stone!

Space Channel 5 and Samba de Janeiro were fun. Didn't really get to play a whole lot of Dreamcast games, though; never had one for myself. :3

How come nobody's brought up Soul Calibur yet? There are just soooo many awesome games on the Dreamcast it's hard to list them all, that's why it's my favorite console. And you don't have to get your system modded to play imports. I bought Cheats N' Codes off ebay for like 3 bucks and it's worked with all the imports I have so far (and it's the only one I could get to work with Virtua Cop 2.) Some of the awesome games of the Dreamcast are import only, like Guilty Gear X and Giant Gram and Sega Tetris so I HIGHLY recommend it

Phantasy Star Online Episode I is a must have, although PSO Ep. I & II is available for Gamecube if you want the superior version.

Edit: By the way you don't have to play this online to have fun.

Also, Resident Evil 2 is my personal favorite in the series and one of the few available for Dreamcast.

Get Power Stone 2 over the original if you can, and definitely get Jet Set Radio - it's a mad masterpiece. Here's twenty really good Dreamcast games in no particular order, and yes I'm aware that nobody asked for them.

Space Channel 5, Jet Set Radio, Power Stone 2, Metropolis Street Racer (the only racer I've ever fallen in love with), Super Magnetic Neo (super-cute platformer where you're MAGNETIC), Ecco the Dolphin (still a treat for the eyes and ears), San Francisco Rush 2049 (so bad it's good), Phantasy Star Online, Virtua Tennis, Soul Calibur, ChuChu Rocket, Confidential Mission, House of the Dead 2, Crazy Taxi, Headhunter, REZ (even if you have to download it - everyone should play it!), Skies of Arcadia (happiest RPG ever), Mr Driller, Crazy Taxi 2, Toy Commander, Ferrari F355 Challenge (hard but good) and some others I can't think of because I'm in Dreamcast overload.

Must have:
Soul Calibur (best 3d fighter IMO), Sonic Adventure (my favourite 3d sonic, the only one I really like)
Recommendations:
Rayman 2 (platformer), Project Justice (fighter), Omikron (Shenmue type, but different), D2 (movie/videogame), Tech Romancer (fighter), Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2 (fighter), Virtual On (shooter/fighter)

Toy Commander, Giga Wing, Trick Style, MDK2, Quake III Arena, Speed Devils.

shenmue was the best game but power stone, soul caliber, and phantasy star are great. tony hawk pro skater 2 is the best port!

Get yourself Shenmue 2 and virtua fighter 3. Also whichever House of the Dead dreamcast had, it was excellent.

Yeah, House Of The Dead 2 is fun, especially with a friend, but use guns, it's boring with controllers. Typing of the Dead is fun too. That's HOTD 2 but you use a keyboard, lol.

Skies of Arcadia and Jet Grind Radio are must haves

Thanks for the responses guys. I managed to find Rayman 2, and it was definitely worth the money. Jet Grind Radio, on the other hand, is just terrible Dodges 10 tomatoes. The gameplay is very standard in most parts and when it's unique, it's the most annoying game I've ever played.

I never understood the greatness in JGR either. I haven't played it, but I will eventually, and from what I've seen so far, it doesn't look interesting, really. Maybe I will like it, but I'm not sure. And yes, Rayman 2 is good, but I'm stuck on one of the levels. Also, try some of Midway's Dreamcast games. I have Hydro Thunder and NFL Blitz 2000 and they are both over the top and arcadey and just plain fantastic.

You don't have to mod a dreamcast just download and burn the games. Bunch of sites have them since its not a big deal to "pirate" a dead systems. Just don't download games like wind+water that are still being made by independent devs
