I have a Samsung ue40d6530 television and I am struggling getting it to come up on the screen. The console is working as I have tried and tested it on an old tv. I have it hooked up via the aerial switch box but it aint coming up. Is there something in my settings I am missing or do I need a diff cable ?

LCD TV's often have trouble picking up the video signal from older consoles. My Sony has the same problem and the only "fix" is to power-cycle the console until the TV does recognize the signal.

@JHudson Perhaps your TV has it's antenna set to DTV instead of the (now outdated in NA) standard broadcast settings.

Currently Playing - Crashmo (on park level 108/100 ATM), Donkey Kong Country Returns, Zelda II: The adventures of Link

Cheers guys. My antenna appears to only have a "air" or "cable" setting. Power cycle as in leaving it on to eventually find itself ?

Might buying an Av cable solve the problem ?

This is why I have an older TV for my retro consoles.

Hope it works out for you JHudson, the SNES is the best console ever and it would be a travesty if you were unable to play it.

Older crt tv's are essential for retro gaming. Even if you manage to get your snes working, it's likely that games are going to look terrible.

I've tried many LCD/plasmas with my snes over the years...it never looks good.

Ya, i can't stand playing either the NES or SNES on an HDTV. Every single one produced this wierd dithering effect whenever the background was scrolling. Plus, it just doesn't feel right playing these retro consoles on some big shnazzy wide flat panel HDTV. It's a 27" retro Tube CRT SDTV all the way for me, unless I'm playing wii VC titles...At least with those you're getting a component connection, but the problem for the millionth time is that Wii VC games for some odd ball reason are boasting darker washed out colors. Kevin from Videoland doesn't approve! :p

Undeniably, this is the ultimate screen for retro gaming:
