@WaveBoy: Rock Candy Mines (6th world) looks really pretty too. I especially loved the backgrounds.

About ZombiU... Although I've heard a lot of people love it, I just couldn't get into it. It's not a bad game, but the level design felt a bit awkward to me. I'd play other Wii U games first, like Splatoon or Super Luigi U. DKC Tropical Freeze has some amazing level design too, and the music is just something else.

Check out my super awesome Super Mario Maker levels.

@WaveBoy: I only played Zombi on the PS4 over at a friend's place. It was ok and I can't say how the gamepad played into it. Still I am sure it won't cost you too much.

@WaveBoy: That's pretty much how I felt about Zombi (U) minus the touchscreen bits obviously.

I can't believe you are just playing Mega Man 7 for the first time, better late then never 'eh lol. Honestly it's ok MM7 I just felt that Mega Man X pulled off the whole 16 bit Mega Man better then 7. Still though I still fire it up from time to time on my Gamecube.

All this Retron talk makes me want one again. I can't figure out which one I'd even get, since reviews are almost always mixed. People either love the one I may be looking at, or suggest a different machine. Also none of these retro machines ever seem to support N64 which is a touch weird imo. I'm sure it has something to do with the specs and cost. But it'd be nice to be able to put away my N64, and still play the carts well, as well as delve into other cart consoles. Really I just want to have access to NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom but the Sega additions would be cool too

I'm the biggest Sega CD fan I know. Best system and add-on. So much great music

I think Sonic CD is my favorite 2D Sonic. The music with the flashing lights and colors it produces are so nice. I always liked The Terminator game for it as well even though it's kind of short, but the motion picture was weird and cool

@DankyKong: The Sega CD had some awesome games, once you got past all the FMV games. The Arcade ports like NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat (even with the loading issues) and especially Final Fight were fantastic. Then you had games like Mickey Mania and Earthworm Jim that the Sega CD was the best versions. It's a shame that most people when you mention Sega CD the first thing they think of are games like Night Trap and Sewer Shark. I still play my Sega CD from time to time. I finally was able to get a copy of Final Fight for it at a decent price a few months ago and from all people I bought it off of Pat The NES Punk.

@the_shpydar: So I was able to get a few of my NES games today out of storage (after of course holding my C.I.B. copy of Earthbound) and gave the Retron a more through tryout. I tried Batman, Super Mario Bros 3, Rampage and Battletoads. The only game that I had problems with was Battletoads and every time at some point during the second level my toad would just disappear, but the game would act like he was still on screen. The birds and plants would attack the spot I was last at but I couldn't do anything. I wold try to attack, move nothing it was if I just vanished. Not sure if that's a problem with the Retron but I cleaned the cartridge and it just seemed funny that it would always happen in level 2. Ah well I guess it's not perfect, but I am still pleased with it.

@Ryno @the_shpydar @ogo79 @WaveBoy So yeah it's all there, guide, game and the box. Yeah it's a bit beat up but that was due to me getting from a local video store back in the day for 20 bucks. Still I am sure I could get a pretty penny for it even in the condition it's in.

I thought this was a thread dedicated to the rules.

I have no retro really. Gamecube? Is that retro yet? I always think it has to be like 20 years old to be really truly retro

I feel like a console has to lack enough features that are standard today in order to be retro. The Gamecube has two analog sticks, analog triggers, built-in rumble, smooth polygons and textures, and a CD drive. The only modern staple it's missing that I can think of is a home screen and high definition. I suppose HD will be the thing to throw it and the Wii into retro in the future, but in my frame of mind, I don't think that will happen until all handhelds become HD too.

EDIT: I guess it's not an online console, which is also a big setback. Maybe it is retro then.

Anyway, I may have been pretty young during the 90's, but I was still exposed to a lot of 90's stuff at the time, and grew up almost exclusively on 90's consoles, so I guess I consider myself a 90's kid.

@WaveBoy: Cool, man! I accepted! And yeah, almost everyone I know who has a Wii U really likes it. It gets a lot of unnecessary flack for some reason. I think it's a great console. It's not perfect and I question some of the North American VC releases they choose...but overall it's a lot of fun. I love off-screen play on the gamepad, because having the TV on in the background while I game is really fun! What games do you have? Have you downloaded any retro games onto it yet???

Rumorlife

How are you suppose to know which Retron or whatever machine to buy? I'm interested in getting NES & SNES stuff, and what that Retron 5 has seems appealing but reviews are so mixed everywhere... I'm confused. Seems expensive and dodgy to get a real NES or SNES at this point.
Although I've recently been seeing this model appear in used stores more often now than ever before, and I'm unsure about that, at least it's "newer" than the cinder block shaped NES but does that even matter? Lol this is the one I remember in stores as a kid...
