I would rather play old games with new graphics if given the choice. Ocarina of Time 3D instead of N64 Ocarina of Time, Super Mario All*Stars instead of the NES games, SSFIIT HD Remix instead of the old SFII games etc...
Thats not to say I dislike retro graphics, I'd just prefer to play with modern graphics when possible. I like to think about how my favorite old games would look if they were remade with modern graphics. Those early 3D games look very rough these days.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
If a game is good IDC, but it's always cool to see original ideas mixed with retro graphics

It really depends for me. I'm OK with 3D games getting graphical revamps/upgrades like in OoT3D or various HD re-releases since they basically preserve the original art direction, but messing with sprites seems like a much bigger point of contention. I can't stand Mario All-Stars strictly because of the graphics.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I still prefer the original graphics but if they only up the resolution on them I'm ok with that. Seem to hate it when they try to almost remake the oldies.

I always try to play the original game first if given the chance.
In general when there's a remake i like it to have it some kind of graphical overhaul. It doesn't have to be much, just something that sets it apart from the original release and makes it feel like more than a slightly expanded port. Though i wished that every remake would also include the original version (at least for games that are available in the download stores of the same platform).
I feel different about collections though. SMB 1, 2 and 3 shouldn't look exactly the same, they're very different games and a part of their appeal is that they were about as perfect as could be when they were released. To me a huge part of that appeal was destroyed by the graphics they gave 'em in All Stars.
But i really like what they've done with Ocarina of Time 3D and the 3D Classics.
I don't really see what All*Stars did to destroy the graphics of those games. I know it doesn't play quite the same because the controls and physics are slightly different than the NES games but graphics wise alone, I prefer All*Stars.

Yeah, the fact that it was the All Stars versions added to the collection and not the ugly originals was a big incentive for me. There's nothing wrong with a game looking better, as long as nothing is lost in translation.

I loathe All-Stars as well cuz of the updated visuals. Original Mario graphix for the win!!!

The Mario NES games are something of a special case to me, and a lot of it has to do with nostalgia I'm sure. It may sound silly but I view those games as greater than the sum of their parts and changing any part of them lessens my experience with them. The look is so iconic that to me it transcends "good" or "bad" and simply is that era of Mario, and I feel that All*Stars reduces the games to Mario map packs.
It's funny though that I have no problem with expanding on those games, like how Super Mario Bros. DX added an overworld map and red coin challenges (DX is probably my favorite "version" of SMB), so long as they keep the art style and identity intact. It's maybe puzzling that I am OK with altering the actual content moreso than the superficial surface, but so it goes!
I generally dislike remakes reboots etc so yeah original is better. Obviously there care exceptions and if you bring it to glasses free portable.. . Makes sense to add 3d layer for example. Also its true that anything with 2d should be the original and the n64 games should generally be remade.
