Just watching this YouTube video takes me back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9WrlIgEa5k

Smartball is indeed a classic SNES game I loved way back them! Does anybody remember this beloved game; I'm sure others would feel the same way I do!

Too bad Sony probably won't support this game anymore; or possible for a VC release?!
Also just a thought; do you think Sony might ever put Smartball on their PS Home Network for download... (I would'nt care if it happened or not)!

Man I wish I had an SNES again; then I'd get this game & relive old times!

Now this one I do know about. I picked it up at a flea market a few years back thinking it would probably be a waste of money and was surprised to find an enjoyable game.

Glad you few who replied liked this classic game! I still do too till this day!

Also anyone else wonder if Sony would ever release games like this or Hook on the VC... I'm possibly thinking not though! But whatever!

I should pirate this. But the best SNES emulator on the GP2X is terrible.

Why don't you pick up an SNES and grab the game? You can't beat the real thing anyway.

And excuse me for asking, but what is up with your username. Did you ask for that?

Plain old gamer :)

Nope, never heard of it prior to today (I think). Though it does look cute and enticing [Sony's done it again!!] Maybe I'll take this game into consideration under my Wanted List.
Oh, wait, is this a Europe-only title? Huh; well, I guess I might as well learn how to import SNES and SFC titles, if that is the case.

I think this lovely thread here needs to be bumped; for those who love the glory days of this awesome SNES platforming game Smartball! I still love to play it on my tiny Retro Twin SNES/NES!

You're the thread author with a new account, aren't you? Doesn't bother me, but I hear the mods aren't too keen of dragging up long dead threads.

It was actually developed by Game Freak, so I suppose it would depend on if Sony still holds any publishing rights to the game or not.
From what I understand, this was NTSC-only.
The Japanese version (Jerry Boy) additionally contained some plot scenes that also gave the player some extra lives. However, the US version had slightly improved control. (you had to hold X/Y to stick to walls. But in the Japanese version, pressing X/Y would also cause you to spit your semi-limited ammo. Shooting was changed to L/R in the US, so you don't have to waste shots.)

There was also a canceled sequel called Jelly Boy 2 (though a ROM exists). Too bad, the only thing keeping it from a finished game is the music freezing in the credits (unless it's an emulator bug). I suppose it could've been canceled because it was close to the PlayStation's release and Sony didn't want to make any more money for Nintendo.
Would be nice to see on the Virtual Console if it's possible.

I tried to play this again for awhile ago, and I couldn't play it as well because my fat fingers keep bumping the Up/Down directions while jumping, causing Jerry the slime guy to drop into pit.

Apparently there is an NA copy of the game (when I tried to look up the game in the MobyGames website, it didn't have it on there, to view the screenshots or look at information). I'm still interested in this game.
Oh, and disregard my earlier comment regarding "Sony's done it again". At the time, I didn't take into consideration the difference between developing and publishing. Hook was developed Ukiyotei, but it was published by Sony Imagesoft. I guess that seeing the Sony lable on a game for a pre-PlayStation console was a bit exciting.

Looks a lot like Super Morph, and I don't think that's a good thing.

Some PAL-exclusive puzzle-ish platform game for the SNES, also published by Sony. But it's definitely not the same game.
I suppose as to what it's actually like, I didn't play much.
