Topic: Rare colors for GameBoy color?

I was on the hunt for a GBC after I came across some of my old games in a storage bin. Lost mine almost 13 years ago. Anyways I pulled the trigger on a clear black one with 5 games off fleabay. There was only two for sale. One at just under 800 and the one I purchased for 125. Overpaid I believe, even though the one i bought seemed to be in better condition.
I tried looking for clear black housings for sale so that I could swap housings on a cheap Craigslist find. Had no luck but I just had to have the clear black model!

Dude has a few other lots for sale $300+ . Wondering if he's missing a few screws or are some of these models actually worth that amount of cash?
What numbers are we talking? Limited? How many we're made? What's a true rare find?
I tried google but nothing came up for clear black gameboy color.
Any info on this would be really appreciated.

Well, I know there was a clear purple one, I guess that could look black under certain light conditions, otherwise I don't know.

^wow a clear purple that looks black in certain lighting? that's cool I thought the only clear purple one was the atomic purple(awesome! but instead of black it looked pink-ish depending on the lights)

I found a page on Wikipedia. It's actually a transparent black not atomic purple. But all that said was that it was a limited edition released only in Japan. Anyone else have some info on this?

Yeah I think they look really cool. I traded a teal for an atomic purple before I lost it on a vacation trip..there were a few transparent midnight blues but I was diggin this black one even more. Just curious as to how rare this black one could be
