Sold the console, 1 controller + all of these games and i must say it was worth it! Bloodlines and Hard Corps were both FABtastic, and those 2 games were the only reason why i scored a genny' in the first place, semi-gnarly blistering Nostalgia aside. Konami being the goober heads that they are never released these games on the Wii's VC, so i was forced by Master Splinter and a lumbering Drunken' Soda Popinski to spend the space cash on this Konami duo of epic sized turtle pie proportions. It was worth every Pee Wee penny i must say, even if i did lose a bit of CashOla when selling it to my bud. Because now I've played and beaten every traditional Console 'Retro' Contra and Castlevania in the series.

Shattered Soldier on the PS2 isn't retro in my eyes, hell anything past the 16 bit for me is hard to stomache as being Retro. Just doesn't seem fitting. Then there's Hardcorups Uprising on the PS3.... I'll tackle those boogers someday, but for now I must say I'm quite contenty', and radical at that. tee hee.

Whoa Waveboy haven't seen you around lately I was beginning to think another retro buddie left us. I hope you got a good deal on that Genesis but yeah I am with you. Out of the 16 bit era consoles the SNES just seems to have more must keep games on it than the Genesis but maybe thats me.

@Waveboy: Sold the Genesis huh? Cannot say I really blame you to much since I have one game for mine and do not play it. I will still keep mine for my retro collection and I will probably get a few more games for it. Whenever I have a Genesis itch I get my quick fix from Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on the PS3 which between that, Mega Man Collection (PS2), and Final Fight Double Impact make the PS3 worth keeping around (and of of course 3D Blu-rays as well).

I guess you could say i was on a teeny weeny little NL break, with the odd Wii U & 3DS post every now and then. Aside from building the ultimate Robot Master(Hint, Turantula man.lol) with Dr.Wily to take down that little wascally' mega, I was too busy stressing and trying to track down a particular Panasonic Plasma, which i was trying to get just in time for the Wii U launch. I've mentioned this already in the Wii U thread, but i finally tracked down the model! I scored a 60" 1080p Panasonic 2011 S30(The 2011 Panasonic S30 and ST30 are thee' ultimate panasonic plasma's to game on for their extremely low input lag rocking at only 1 frame when using component cables and blah blah.lol Both are considering the wholy grail for Plasma gaming.)

I got a killer deal that would even make Little Nemo(The Dream Master). weep in 8-bit Slumberland pixel tears. the set went for about $1,599 last year and i got it mint for $850! I'm extremellllly happy right now. the picture quality is outstanding, surpassed my most epic expectations hehe. SO, now that 'that' obsessive time wasting shinanigans is out of the way, i can finally sleep haha. I'll be unboxing my wii U in less than a week. You and Ryno will definitly be the first two that I'll add! Too bad OldGamseOnly wont be getting one, big suprise there, considering he's totaly stuck in an 8-16 bit 'only' Sprite coma.

Ya, the genesis just has this irky cheap feeling about it. Even the carts, controller and console look second rate. I may have quite a bit of nostalgia with it, but those memories weren't exactly the high lite of my Retro gaming days, quite the opposite actually! I'd love to have them erased permanently.lol I consider it one of the worst times for me in gaming. The Genesis for me was a bit...gloomy and depressing. It has to do with the drowning synthasized hellish gargling techno-rock sound, weak color pallette, and i hated the console design and controller. I also LOATHED the sonic games...Ugh, terrible memories are now starting to resurface. eek!

Even then it felt like a big downgrade after owning my NES. Tthe NES experience along with SNES were just whimsical, upbeat, uplifting and flat out amazing. Didn't get that feeling at all with the Genny. Thank god when the SNES hit the shelves...It was a godsend, it FELT "OMFG NextGen" where as the genny felt like an entirely different(and not in the good way) wierd 2nd rate beast on it's own. I wish i would of passed on it all together, because when i think about it outside of maybe 3 games it was a big waste of time. When all said and done i'm just not a fan of the console. Goes to show that i'm not all goopy in love with nostalgia from my childhood.

It's NES + SNES + Wii for me. GCN's not too bad, but the N64 imo for the most part was a big disaster and has not aged well at all. The 3rd party titles make me totaly cringe whenever i seem them. blugh!

@Waveboy: Sounds good man I wont be unboxing my Wii U till Christmas morning though. Theres nothing like opening up a new Nintendo system on Christmas morning. So many memories with that.

That's actually an awesome idea! I wouldn't mind doing the same, but i guess i just want to enjoy it while Christmas is still in the air. But if i did delay it until christmas morning, I could spend more time and catch up with my unplayed wii and 3DS games in the time being. Ahhh, vhat' to do.

I feel the exact opposite, the Genesis gets quite a bit of love on NL, especially whenever there's a Retro/VC related review on the main page. As of late, the Gamecube's been getting it all. Everytime i check the retro forum, GCN related topics alway seem to be at the top. Bah, the thought of the GCN being retro gives me the waldo willies. But really, where else are users going to talk about it on the site.

Guess the topic should had been called 'bash on Genesis then talk about Wii U'

I wouldn't say everyone hates the old Genesis (or Mega Drive depending on your region) as I love it. I'm going to give a nod to a great Genesis fan site by the name of SEGA-16. If your a fan of things retro, check it out! I don't frequent it much anymore, but I have been a member there since 2007. http://www.sega-16.com/

I'd like to get Tale Spin, but my adaptor is causing the Genesis to emit a loud hum whenever I turn it on.
