I like it better when its an anagram like Beldum = Dumbel and Metang = Magnet or even back words ie ROTOM = MOTOR but I like Portmanteaus like Pika = Thunder and Chu = Mouse or Togi = Spike and Pi = Tiny

Actually, "pika" means "sparkle," and "chu" is the sound a mouse makes in Japanese (equivalent to "squeak" in English). The "rai" in Raichu is what means "thunder/lightning." By the way, don't forget about Ekans and Arbok being "snake" and "kobra" (slight spelling variation) when spelled backwards, Girafarig is giraf(fe) turned into a palindrome, and Gengar is an anagram of "ganger" as in "doppleganger."
