My disc-drive belt on my old Playstation One slim console just broke, but everything else seems fine. Is there any way to remove my belt from my other broken PS1 slim "which the belt on that one actually isn't broken" and place it on my console with the broken belt? I have done this before with two standard PS1 consoles, but the tech of the slim models seems far more complex so I'm not sure if the same technique will work this time around.

I wouldn't bother. You can actually find a PS2 cheap nowadays and that can play both PS2 and PS games.

If you have a PS3, it should play PS1 games. Not just downloads too, it works with the actual CDs.

@Tasuki, do you know if the GunCon (the Time Crisis gun peripheral) works on PS2 with emulation? I have the game but my old PS1 kicked the bucket long ago and the gun cannot be connected to a PS3, as it uses the PS1 controller jack. Thanks!

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

@sinalefa: I dont see why not. The PS2 has the same controller jacks as the PSone. I have used PS controllers all the time on the PS2. And actually the PS2 doesn't emulate the PSone games it is an actually working PSone.

@Jaz007: I thought only a small batch of PS3s were backwards compatible with PS2 and PSone discs?

@Tasuki You're right about the PS2 comparability, but all PS3s are backwards compatable with PS1 games.

@Jaz007: Oh I didnt know that, that is kinda cool. Still though, if only it was BC with the PS2 discs that would make my day. I still have a bunch of my PS2 games which is why I have a PS2 but I only have a handful of PS one games, just all three Tekkens, Castlevania: SotN, Legend of Dragoon, and Suikoden to be exact.

Thanks a lot. I will look into that. I just hope my GunCon still works, as it has been stored and unused for years.

Yes, but it's just software emulation. The PS2 does it hardware and it is much better. From PS3 you can remote play all PS1 games(from disc too) on PSP or Vita though, that's a nice feature.
