Alright this is the only classic game that I've never played before AT ALL. I have the original cartridge and N64 to play it on so it's all good. Now I'm wondering should I play this on a big TV or small TV? I have a big widescreen plasma or I can play it on my small TV. Which? And give me some good reasons to play this, thanks!

I don't think it really matters, but try your small TV. That way, you can use your plasma TV for games that support widescreen! The game should be a natural fit on your small TV, too.

I'm back (for the moment)!

It'll look bad on the plasma TV. N64's weren't made for those kinds of televisions

Cathode Ray Tube. Still the best type of TV for old games. They look kind of dull and washed out on LCDs and Plasmas, in my opinion, and the hi-resolutions make em look really blocky too.

@mecoy
I can't wait that long! Plus I need to play the original first, If I somehow don't like it then I'll give it another chance with the 3DS version

The only old-school game that I've played on my HD that I thought looked really bad was Sonic 3.
Ocarina of Time will look just fine on the HD (but not really improved over the SD), so just play it on whatever's more convenient for you.

I'd vote small TV but then again I have a 14" RGB CRT monitor that makes classic games shine. N64 games look excellent on old CRT screens but terrible on HDTV's. 320x240 just doesn't look good stretched to insane sizes and with all that sharpening that happens. When you play on an HDTV most low resolution games look cheap and badly done but on a small 15khz screen the games look a lot more organic and there is a lot more perceived depth in the graphics. The scanlines help as well. Thankfully the Wii also outputs native resolutions for VC games so you don't get games scaled up to 640x480i you instead get the 320x240p or lower when outputting.

Whichever is more convenient. It'll probably look better on the small TV, but sometimes it's fun to blow up old school graphics on giant HDTVs too.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Agreed. I play the original cartridge on an HDTV with the N64 expansion pack, and the edges of things are rather jagged and pixely. It doesn't matter much, though, so play it on whatever TV you want.

Really? your First time?

I played this game when I was 8, were you been?

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

You've still got quite a way to go before going to the Water Temple.

You are a long ways from the water temple. There is so much to do in this game you might be playing for weeks if you want everything. I know you have the n64 version but the vc version has better graphics. Might what to consider getting that instead before you get to far into the game.

The VC version has cleaner visuals, not better graphics. It's still an N64 game. Keep playing the original cartridge, it's a nice experience.
