So whatever happened to Phantasy Star? Has SEGA forgotten the series?
Also I 'm currently playing phantasy star 2 making this the first phantasy star I've ever played and I want to know out of all the games, which is the one that is well balanced? 1,2,3 or 4?

i remember seeing phantasy star online (i think it was called like that) for xbox back a few years ago and i really wanted to play it but i didnt have xbox live :/
Phantasy Star Nova is out this year in Japan. Traditional RPG made by tri-Ace, the developers of Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, and Resonance of Fate.
Of the original four, Phantasy Star IV is my favorite, but I may be a little biased. It's the only one I actually played when it was still a "new" game. That sort of thing affects your perception.

Didn't know about Phantasy Star Nova. I hope they bring it to the west some day. I've never played any of the 3D Phantasy Star games, and I usually love Tri-Ace games.

Outside of their PC games, what does Sega even do besides Sonic? Even mainstay series like Virtua Fighter have fallen by the wayside in recent years. I wonder if we will ever get a Virtua Fighter 6, especially with the VF fighters being put into Dead or Alive.
Although, a Virtua Fighter vs Dead or Alive would be awesome. Make it happen Sega and Koei/Tecmo!

The first Phantasy Star series (classic turn based JRPG) died after the 4th game. So if you are looking for this kind of games you are screwed .
They rebooted it as a Action-RPG (often multiplayer) series with PS Online with very few links to the old series. They released a lot of games in that new series (I don't know how many PSOnline, PSUniverse, PSPortable, PSZero and now PSNova).
