So, guys.

I recently bought Phantasy Star Online episode I and II for the Gamecube. Two of my close friends, for some reason, own about 6 copies between them. Now, apparently, so I've heard... Only 500 copies of the game were released here in Australia. (If anyone has any info clarifying that, let me know)

Anyway, if you're a fan of the series I'd really like to hear your opinions of the games. Also, some of you may know of Phantasy Star Online 2 which is currently only available in Japan... Which was supposedly meant to get a US and Europe release?

One of my friends whom I mentioned earlier got his hands on the Beta and downloaded an English translation patch and is still able to play on all of the Japanese servers which is fun.

So, yeah. Just a general discussion... Guys?

I'm super excited for Phantasy Star Online 2 for ages now. I simply can't wait. They've been updating the Japanese Version like crazy, too, I can't imagine they'll ever run out of content. Best of all, my PC can seem to run it well, looking at the specs, and I got my Vita ready so I can play it on that as well!

I really wish they officially translated Phantasy Star Online: Episode IV (if not Blue Burst, with had Ep. 1, 2, and 4) over in the west. I guess they didn't want it conflicting with Phantasy Star Universe (which I enjoyed, but I know it struggled and a lot of people seem to hate it). It really is a shame, since I played a fan-translated version of Blue Burst on Private servers (which is probably illegal, but whatever, I didn't care about that stuff at the time), and it was fantastic, especially when you played with other people. It was a struggle at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was really addicting. I'm tempted to go back to it, actually...

EDIT: Oh, it appears that Blue Burst was available in North America! But it closed in 2007...

To anybody that still wants to play the DC or GC versions online. There is still a community behind both versions, more so the DC but still GC players out there, this is a great service.

I never had the GC PSO but I did play more than my fair share on DC and it was great.

Schthack for information on playing GC online (DC is practically dead lol). They can interact with Blue Burst players in lobbies but not in teams. Elouise is the ship where GC players gather to form teams.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I'll be checking that online community too, thanks.

It doesn't surprise me that people still play this online orin general. It's a different kind of MMO than your casual World of Warcraft, Age of Conan types.

When I was a youngster, I seriously adored literally almost every aspect of this GameCube sleeper hit. Of course, I have never owned a Dreamcast, but thanks to word of mouth, this GameCube port was fantastic for an oblivious gamer I once was all those years ago.

It hasn't aged well to many, but I can still replay it with three friends and get more out of it than your latest greatest JRPG. I'm also ecstatic about the sequel. (-:

Just had a thought!

Would the online multiplayer function work via the Wii?

Very alive and well, but PSO is not one of those games in the DC community you linked to that is active (it's not 1 of the 5 games listed under online games). Schthack is the go-to for PSO, period.

I'm out of luck if I can't play online via the Wii...
