Remember when you were a kid what some of your favorite series used to be? How many of them have long since fallen to the wayside and been replaced by newer, more exciting games? Just make your list here to compare!

Lucky for me, I still have a list I made when I was younger:

Old Favorites:

  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Metroid
  • Mario
  • Mega Man
  • Sly Cooper
  • Star Fox
  • Pokemon
  • Digimon

New Favorites:

  • Metroid
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Mega Man
  • Castlevania
  • Street Fighter/King of Fighter
  • Final Fantasy
  • Shin Megami Tensei
  • Devil May Cry
  • Nintendo Wars
  • Command & Conquer

Oh how the times have changed...

Old Favorites:
Final Fantasy
Age of Empires
Eye of the Beholder (A Dungeons and Dragons based RPG)
Mario games, in general.
Illusion of Gaia
Pokemon
LoZ: A Link to the Past
Sonic(but not really)
Tetris

New:
Super Smash Bros.
Resident Evil
Baldur's Gate
The Witcher
Sonic( a lot more)
Prince of Persia
Rock Band
Metroid
Mega Man

I think that's enough for now. I've really grown to dislike the Final Fantasy franchise(excuse the alliteration). I was considering Castlevania recently, though, especially with the new game coming out relatively soon, which looks pretty enjoyable. Would it be wrong to perhaps ask which game would be good to start with in this thread?

On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. 'Tis a very silly place.

Old-School: Start with the original, or perhaps Castlevania ReBirth since it's easier.

New-School: Go for one of the GBA games. Let SOTN be your last, since it really is the best and none of the others get it quite right.

3D: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. It's super cheap, and it's actually really good. Like Devil May Cry or God of War, but with Catlevania.

I've only become a fan of the Zelda series in recent years. And I discovered why people in North America and Japan like Chrono Trigger so much as the DS finally brought it here.

Pretty much like all my childhood faves from the nineties, particularly Pokémon.
