I just received Wetrix, popped it in the N64 and it works . I'm glad I decided to enter the second hand store and took a risk with paying 5 Euro for a incomplete console and 5 Euro for a game that might not work. The controller is crap, the analogue stick is broken but Wetrix is working with the normal D-pad as well. So I need two new controllers as well. So now I have a whole weekend to make my shopping list, and try Wetrix out some more of course .
One question I have though is about the paks. The controller and the rumble pak both go into the back of the controller. But how does that work? Can you play with the Rumble Pak and when it wants to save quickly switch it with the Controller Pak?
Nope you either have to use one or the other you cant start with one and than switch. If I remember correctly though games that use the Rumble Pak like Zelda: OoT have a battery backup for saving files and dont require the controller pak for saving.
Really, I can have them both plugged in with this:
Yeah its a third party accessory which makes me wary. It might work I truthfully dont know since I wont by anything thats not oked by Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft.
@Aviator: Some games do require a Controller Pak to save not too many but some do. I know Crusin USA does need it to save all your cars that you unlock as well as your times otherwise you have to start a new game each time.
What Tasuki said is wrong. There are LOTS of games that use both Rumble Pak and Controller Pak. These games prompt you to switch between the two Paks when needed. It's nothing special, plenty of boxes have both Pak logos on them. There's no trouble switching between them. You just shouldn't reject the Controller Pak while the game is saving.
What Aviator said is wrong. You need the Controller Pak to save in almost any N64 game that is not made by Nintendo. There are plenty games that require the Controller Pak. Without a Controller Pak you have to beat most games in one sitting and without getting a gameover or you have to start from scratch.
Here's a short list of games that require the Controller Pak to save progress:
All Konami games (International Superstar Soccer series, Mystical Ninja series, Hybrid Heaven, Castlevania series, etc.)
All Electronic Arts games (FIFA, Beetle Adventure Racing, etc.)
All Acclaim games (Turok series, extreme-G series, Forsaken, NFL Quarterback Club series, etc.)
All Midway games (San Francisco Rush series, NBA Hangtime, Doom 64, Quake 1+2, Duke Nukem 64, Hexen, etc)
Aidyn Chronicles, Wetrix, and many other good 3rd Party games.
Another tip: I believe holding the START button when you power on the N64 makes the Controller Pak screen appear (when you have a Controller Pak compatible game, and a Controller Pak inserted). In that screen you can delete or move files from one Controller Pak to another Controller Pak in a second, third or fourth Controller.
Ok, I'll be on the look out for both then. By the way, are there N64 games that save scores in multiplayer? Does that mean I need two Controler Paks?
No. You don't need 2 Controller Paks. Only if you run out of memory.
Certain games allow you to import character stats, highscores or ghost data from a Controller Pak to a Game Pak (cartridge). For example you can take your Wave Race 64 best times with you on a Controller Pak and import them to someone elses cartridge.
Alright, only one it is. Still in doubt about the Rumble Pak, don't know if it would add anything.
A bummer, I was about to buy a expansion pak in an online store, is it suddenly gone from the site and I can't find another one except on site like eBay, which is more expansive.
I also found a game called Superman 64. I'm really tempted to buy it. I hear so many bad things about it, that I'm itching to play it . Just to see how bad it its for myself.

lol, that video almost makes it look epic but also very bad. But I've seen all the video's (including AVGN version). So I don't think I will even bother trying.

You should absolutely try Rayman 2: The Great Escape. After Super Mario 64, many 3D platformers followed during the late 90's. Rayman 2 is definitely the best of the bunch.
(If you own a PS2, though, I suggest you get Rayman Revolution, which is essentially a director's cut of the same game.)
