Topic: N64: Shadow Man with horizontal stripes

Hi.

I have hooked up my N64 with the standard composite cable to a modern Flatscreen TV.

What I noticed when playing "Shadow Man" (in Hi-Res Resolution with Expansion Pak) are light horizontal stripes in the picture like a jalousie.

When I switch to Lo-Res the stripes are still there but much less noticeable.

The lines are best visible when you look at the left brown wall or Shadow Man's blue trousers.
In fact they are everywhere but their visibility depends on background color.

The lines doesn't seem to shift or change like typical interference does. They are always there, don't flicker and don't move a bit.

I didn't noticed this effect when playing "Pokemon Snap" and "Pokemon Stadium" a few weeks ago with the same console, same TV and same wires.

It's not too bad and the game is still smoothly playable.
But what is this? Has anyone noticed such a "jalousie-effect" when playing certain N64 games?

Is this possibly something that the graphics engine intentionally does for creating color gradients which isn't visible on older and smaller CRTs?

Greetings, Omega
