Topic: N64 gamesave batteries

I know that there was a previous thread about gamesave batteries, but i couldnt find it.
I bought super mario 64 off ebay and i can't save my game because of what im pretty sure is a battery problem. I need to know how to open the cartridge and what kind of battery to use.

Use an appropriastely shaped screwdriver-like device to open it. Then look at the type of battery inside, to figure out what kind of battery to use...

I heard many N64 games used battery-less save chips (like EEPROM). How would you replace those? Buy another chip?

I have this problem with Pokemon Snap...I don't know what the deal is

Now, I’m not sure if this guy is correct, but as far as I know, only a few N64 games support batteries.

Well it doesn't have a battery in it, but since it spent some time in a mailbox, turns out it was just moist on the inside, it dried out and works fine now. We had a lot of snow, it was cold, and i brought it in to a very warm house.
