I am willing to bet that not many of you have played, let alone heard, of the 1995/98 Kemco game Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands! for the Game Boy Pocket. But if you have (and that's relatively few of you, I surmise), then you would know that it's a 2D action/puzzler in the roots of Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle. You can walk, climb up and down the stairs, and jump (and some jumps have to be light or hard). Not only that, but have the ability to use your wand powers in these 40 normal + 4 boss stages. After you defeat each boss after each tenth stage, you learn a new use of the wand. You wand has the power to do away with the crystals, create ice to walk on water, create a platform in front of you (hold down B), and shoot projectiles from your wand (hold Up + B).
But what is the plot of the game, you may ask? Well, Mickey and his friends were out in the forest all day having fun and being happy until they got lost and saw a castle in the distance. Rumor has it that the wizard Yashja was a powerful sorcerer with evil powers. But then, without warning, a hole opened up on the ground and everyone save for Mickey fell down. What was their fate? They have been turned into puzzle pieces, and the only way to get them back is to collect all the rightful puzzle pieces in the sequential order of each stage. That was their fate for having woken up Yashja from her sleep.
But worry not, because Mickey Mouse has come to the rescue. In each stage sans the boss ones, you collect either 4 or 6 pieces of your friends scattered throughout the stage. Some stages are small and brief, others are long and thorough (yes!). In a few of these stages you have to collect two of your friends at the same time. But don't think that these rooms are devoid of enemies, because there are living obstacles in your path. You can collect items as well to help your progress: you can throw apples to kill enemies [ ], music boxes to make enemies sleep for a few seconds a la SMB3, and some candy to restore all health. You have a health bar comprised of six stars, and if you run out of all of them, you have to start over again. That's not such a bad thing, because this game is very easy, you'll barely lose a life at all. I like how each stage has a diverse look and feel to it. The bosses, on the other hand, are very anticlimactic and easy to conquer; especially the final boss' two forms. That's about the only true downside I can think of from this obscure game.
This game can be quite amusing at times, because there's also a hint of Engrish. Such blatant examples are "A wand! What happen if I use this?" and "Push Direction Up button and B to shoot objects!" It's fun to play every once in a while, and there's a four character password system so you don't have to do it all in one sitting. Music is good but can get quite repetitive. I find myself having a bit of fun when playing this game, but the problem is it's not random, so the location of every item and crystal will not be a surprise anymore.

That's my vote for the most Obscure Game Boy Title Ever Made. What game do you believe not everyone may have heard about or played to fit this category?

Most of the games I've played on Game Boy are prety well-known, but I'd have to go with Gargoyle's Quest. Word of it has spread around a little more when the review of it was written here, but there's still few people who have played it. Shame too, since it's a fantastic game. Wish I still had it.

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. I'm sure there's two kids growing up in the 90s who didn't play them.

Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

StarBoy91

@Phoenix - I played them when I was little. ^^

I'm not sure if this counts (it probably won't), but I really liked 'Tower of Heaven'. it's a freeware game that looks and feels like it should have been on the Gameboy.

Probably Fortified Zone, it seems to be relatively unknown. Too bad, it's a pretty good game.

Total Carnage for the Game Boy. It was a total let down, I got it with birthday money when I was like 7 or 8.

@Ricardo91: I had that(hopefully I still do), but I'm not sure where it is right now. I think I have the booklet too, sans box.(I eventually tossed the box, I guess. Probably just because it was taking up space. <I don't like to get rid of them usually>

Edit: Was a gift from bro. I never finished it.

@Ricardo91
I loved Gargoyles Quest. Bought it when it first came out, but have no memory of where i heard about it or if i just bought it at random. I don't remember if i ever finished it back then, but i think i did. I recently started playing it again via emu, but accidentally wiped my save state (and i was pretty far along too!). Plan to get back to it for a playthrough soon.

Definitely underrated game, highly reccommended.

A game I loved. King of the Zoo (Penguin Wars in the US). Anyone heard of this title. It's about a cow, rabbit, bat, rat and penguin. Eacht with their own strengths and weaknesses. 10 balls on the table and just throw it to they other animal. 10 balls on one side and you win, if the minute is over, the player with the least balls wins. The game also came out on the NES and the MSX, but I have never played any of these. A small shot from the GB version:

I bet nobody here has ever played Q-Billion. Weirdest and least played game on my Game Boy. Look it up if you want...
