How is Mario not Mario's surname? It says so in the title.
Billy Lee and and Jimmy Lee are not called the Billy Brothers, they are called the Lee Brothers. Thats how it works.
If Mario and Luigi's surname was not Mario, then their real surname would be in place of the word Mario in Mario Bros. Thats how it works. Its not something a crappy movie made up, it was there all along.
Amy Rose carries a giant hammer, is delusional about her relationship with Sonic, stalks and chases him has no respect for no means no, yet she is free to walk the streets of mobious, that kinda confused me, but also encouraged me too, if only our society was as tolerant on insane stalkers as mobious.
I would be more concerned in how she stores the giant hammer when not in use. Seriously, where just she keep it!?
One thing that confused me is why Link from OoT was too young to wield the Master Sword yet other Links around his age were not too young. I guess that's just for the convenience of OoT's plot. Also, why is Adult Link unable to wield the boomerang? Did he forget how to throw one?

Nope. They have no surnames. Nobody cares about Luigi, that's why it's called Mario Bros.
And they are called the Mario Bros because they`re last names are Mario. The reasoning for this has already been pointed out.

Maybe it's just a title, like Super Mario World, or Super Mario Galaxy. Next you'll be saying the games are titled that because it's Mario's world/galaxy/land/sunshine/whateverelse? He doesn't own the world or galaxy, but his name is in the title.
The reason for the name "Mario Bros" was basically because it was never thought out all that well when the game Mario Bros first came out for the arcades in the 80's. The name "Mario Bros" was made with Mario in mind. Luigi was just mostly a fill in character for the second player slot. Even though it's called Mario Bros, that doesn't mean it's their last names, especially for this case. They just stuck with the name because it was easily recognizable.
Also, I refuse to believe that their last names are Mario because it always reminds me of that awful POS Super Mario Bros movie every time I hear it (and that it sounds really stupid). Their last names were never officially announced by Nintendo, and until then, we will never know.
Words mean things. As I said, Billy and Jimmy Lee are the Lee Bros. because thats how naming structures work; a word prior to Bros. indicates the surname, not the main character's first name .
Whether or not Mario was intended or desired to be their surname, by being the Mario Bros., it still falls into the same naming structure and thats the most important part to this - maybe it wasn't thought out properly back in the early eighties and maybe Luigi wasn't destined to become anything more than the second player's character, Mario Bros. is still not exempt to the rules of grammar. Using the same example, what if Double Dragon was called Billy Bros. starring brothers Billy Lee and Jimmy Lee? What does Billy Bros. mean? Mario Mario makes sense whereas Billy Bros. does not. Its only stupid when it makes no grammatical sense, not if a character has the same name for his first name and surname.
Also, as I think I said earlier, the movie didn't create their surname; Nintendo did, albeit unintentionally. The writers just recognised the term "Mario Bros." as what it means in proper linguistics. Even if the movie didn't call attention to it or there was no movie, we would still be having this same argument.
He might be saying "shift" but it still sounds like $h*t.
It's just an anime yell ("Shea!" or however you'd spell it) that unfortunately sounds like er...that word you guys think it sounds like. Let's talk about something else, please?
