Some guy in a dungeon told me to walk into the waterfall. I did, and this woman told me to pay her to talk. I rupee grinded, only to discover that 10 rupees wasn't enough. I was like "WHAT!!!!!?" Complete ripoff, considering how hard it is to rupee grind.

I think she gives you the location for an upgraded sword

wow! people are still talking about that? I thought that was like Darth Vadar being Luke's father, everyone just....knew. haha

@Starfox are you playing this game for the first time?Yeah, rupee grinding is a little tedious in this game, but can be fun. Some parts in the first Zelda are very non-intuitive.

Mother 3 fan. It's an amazing game. 糸井さん、こんな素敵なゲームを作ってくれてありがとう!

You don't need to talk to her. She just gives you hints. In the time it takes to get all those rupees, you could figure out what to do on your own.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

LOL this isn't my first time playing, but it's the first time I've gotten this far (not counting the time I was guided through by a friend).

I grind for rupees in Level 3 on slimes with the White Sword, in the first couple rooms then exit and reenter to respawn them and repeat. I recall plenty of 5-rupee kills.

That's great. I'll remember that. I need to get the shield upgrade and eventually the blue ring.

I'm also having trouble with LOZ: Majora's Mask (specifically on the first dungeon after you get the first key). I feel as though Zelda games make their dungeon layout a bit too cryptic. They never hint at what you're supposed to do, they just force you to try lots of different things (which can waste 15 minutes to an hour).

Use deku sticks on the burning posts to make torches and burn the spider web down if your stuck there.

@Chucko Thanks! But still, if I remember correctly, the instruction booklet doesn't mention that at all (the fact that you can use a deku stick as a torch). See what I mean?

That mechanic was introduced in OoT, so maybe they just assumed most people would get it already. Zelda actually is fairly good at giving hints, if you look for them. If every pot in a room contains Deku sticks, you'll probably need them. I didn't really have problems with the temples in MM...it's finding out what to do when in all the sidequests that kills me, difficulty wise.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@v8

Yeah, the temples in MM are for sure the most difficult in all the series. Not even tatl will give good hints. But they are still fun.

OK, I just watched a playthrough, and I learned about all the "Secrets to Everybody".

Ya, thats why I couldn't get past the first dungeon my first time playing. I was like 10 or something, and I hadn't played any other Zelda games... I ended up having all the ones I could get by the time Wind Waker came out, because I loved Zelda so much:) Sadly the only ones I'm missing still are the NES Zeldas(besides on Collectors Edition), and of course the CDi Zelda games...
