I'm wondering if anyone has noticed this. On the left of the screen while playing Super Mario Bros. 3, there is what looks to be an inch or so of blank space that is the colour of the background. It appears much too large of a space to be an overscan type of problem.

It was how the NES worked back in the days...sooo, yeah...the NES emulator on the Wii/U emulates everything...including that.

Funny. Because I don't remember that space when I was a kid. Maybe I'm just remembering wrong. I have noticed it with the very same NES I got in 1985, the same cartridge, but on a newer tv...though it was bigger. Haven't tried it on my new HDtv yet.

I'm guessing its because we couldn't see it on older TVs...so, I dunno. I only played the SNES remake on an old TV. xD

Many NES games had a bar on the side of the screen, used to reduce scrolling glitches in games. It was just less common to notice because games used black more often.

I'm guessing its because we couldn't see it on older TVs...

Exactly why they probably didn't care too much about fixing it when the game was originally released.

I thought you were talking about the left side of the screen on the title screen, where do they go that we cannot see?

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
