Topic: Is there a new Rare?

this is a very simple question. During Rare's peak with Nintendo, they released 22 original games (though I'm counting the DKLand games some you could argue 19) in less than 7 year, the vast majority of which were both popular and beloved. Barring maybe Nintendo's main team, I cannot think of a single developer whose come even REMOTELY close to this. And literally every example you're thinking of will probably be a publisher, stop that.

It's really crazy to think about it. I'm reminded at my disappointment with Retro, who have made 5 or so games in 12 years. And to this day I would pretty much just beg Nintendo if I could to make that team massive to the point that they can make ALL the games. But seriously...22 games in 7 years. Of high quality. Who is doing that? If there is someone, I would like to know. Please tell me there is.

Well 3D/HD requires more development time but maybe Team Ninja? It's gonna be hard to think of someone who's bulk of work isn't alot of skin job games.

Well just taking out of my personal collection here:

Devil Survivor: Overclocked
SMT IV
Persona Q
Etrian Odyssey Untold
Etrian Odyssey IV
SMT: Soul Hackers
Radiant Historia
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Trauma Team
Persona 3 Portable
Persona 4: The Golden
Persona 4 Arena
Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax
Catherine

And next year, any and up to all of the following as well:

Devil Survivor 2: Break Record
Etrian Odyssey Untold 2
Etrian Odyssey 5
Etrian Mystery Dungeon
Persona 5

That's 19 titles in 8 years, and only from my personal collection. So yes, in my opinion. I'll even say that Atlus is a better developer than Rare was in its prime.

Though I'm assuming you already know about how groovy Atlus is and I just fell into a clever trap.

EDIT: Trauma Center: Second Opinion was 2007, so 8 years I guess.

@SpookyMeths Your list of games to me doesn't appear to have the same variety of genres that Rare worked on. Not knocking it at all, they're all well/highly regarded games, and Atlus are talented. There's just no platfomer, 3D platformer, racing, fps, tps, fighting and whatever you'd class Bast Corps.

OT: I wouldn't say so, but then again I'm not really looking or paying much attention. This just reminds me how much I miss old Rare.

Maybe Rockstar North? From 2002-2013, there's been GTAs III-V + San Andreas (a personal favorite of mine), Manhunt I and II, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and Max Payne 3.
