Alisia Dragoon? It's a Mega Drive/Genesis game but it could easily be mistaken for a SNES game. It's not set in space either so... I dunno. Still thinking. Jump to 1:16 to see gameplay.

Awesome game, by the way.

Are you certain it was a SNES game?

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Nope. I have (or at least had at some point) Kendo Rage and Alisia Dragoon. I am also quite familiar with Sailor Moon. Maybe too familiar. It's not Super Dany either. I think this game was released toward the end of the Super Nintendo's life-cycle. I'm not surprised nobody here seems to know the game because it didn't get much attention other than the article I saw in Nintendo Power.
Also, I don't think the character was female. I could be wrong though, which is why I left that part in.

On a side note, I hope they eventually release Alisia Dragoon on the Virtual Console. That game can get pretty tough at times, but it sure is a blast to play.

I give up. Sorry.

Unfortunately, I've had a lot of issues of Nintendo Power and I had to get rid of most of them when I moved (I kept the ones with the comics inside). I have no idea which issue it was.

This game sounds like a game I've been trying to remember for years too. Female protagonist, action platformer in the likes of Castlevania. The bosses seem to be based in Greek mythology. I rented it around 1994 maybe, and can never remember the name of the game. This has haunted me for years! Even when I looked on the Wiki page and clicked through all the games, I couldn't find it. If it's the same game, I'll guarantee it's an SNES game (never owned a Genesis.)

But in ActRaiser you play as a guy... and also most of it is a god simulation game.

Oh, but that's another game that should be mentioned in the undefinable games thread.

Maybe ActRaiser 2 than. Unlike the first one that one didnt have the simulation part it was just an action game.

I'm familiar with ActRaiser. This game definitely had a female main character. I want to say one of the bosses resembled a Medusa like head that shot a bunch of crap at you.

In your case it might be Super Valis or Alisia Dragoon. You can see the video above for the latter.

Holy crap, Super Valis is that game! Thank you very much mickeymac. I seriously have been trying to find this game forever. I apologize to DrDaisy for snaking their thread, but I'm glad this was posted.

I'm not mad. Even if the game is never revealed, I'm glad someone got some use out of this topic.
I also have Super Valis 4 (as well as 3 and 1 for Genesis). I'm beginning to think the game I'm trying to think of went the way of Fireteam Rogue and X-Women: The Sinister Virus.

Glad I could be a help to somebody, with my limited knowledge of the system, is all.

@DrDaisy

If you haven't already, I highly suggest trying to find a site that lists all of the games on the SNES with screenshots. That's what I did when I was looking for some Sega Genesis games I couldn't remember. It took a while, but it was worth it.

It could be possible that maybe it was a Japanese game that never made it state side or like you said something that never came to be. I wish I can help but with the details you gave I am thinking of games that others have already mentioned.
