Topic: I modded my NES

I think the patents on the NES ran out a long time ago, so, most old school or "retro" gamers can do as they please with the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and I did do as I pleased. I recently bought a front loading NES (I never owned one of these as a child,) and then I bought the "Blinking Light Win" modification loading tray. I have no technical expertise whatsoever so I turned to my older brother for help and after a few hitches, we finally got the NES reassembled with the Blinking Light Win intact, and it works wonderfully it's just a bit hard to get the cartridges out though. Anyway, me and my brother had do that, so that front loading NES would last forever and it probably will. Now, I just need to get an NES dust cover off of eBay to save my modded NES from layers and layers of dust.

Just FYI, the patent thing is irrelevant. You could always do whatever you wanted with an NES that you owned (the only thing modding would do is potentially void your warranty, which would have expired a looooooong time ago anyway).

Is a dust cover really necessary, though? I've always found them to be (for the most part) ugly eyesores, and it's not like the NES is going to gather pounds of dust magically.

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

Yes, a dust cover is necessary. Because I'm kind of lazy. And I'm too lazy to dust around my entertainment center and TV set. The dust cover will protect it.
