Ok, so these family friends just gave me two boxes of their son's old game systems. I got 2 nes's, (one working, one not working), 1 snes (no power cable, no way to test it), a bunch of games for those, a possibly functional (probably dead) Neo Geo with 1 game (magician lord), and a Turbo Grafx 16 with all the cables and some type of fancy carrying case, but no games. Just wondering, any game recommendations? Also, does anyone know of a way to get the Neo Geo working. I may just have the wrong power cord for it (5 volts, 2.5 amps), but I get nothing when I turn it on.

You hit the lottery dude, nice! Doesn't the NES power cord work with the SNES? Thought they were the same... You should be able to fix those all up and there is a retro recommendation thread where I am sure the lovely mods would direct you too.

Technically the thread isn't all about recommendations, I need help a bit of help with the neo geo as well. It surprised me with the nes/snes power cable thing too, its weird, but the genesis cable works with the nes.

No, the NES and the SNES power cord are not the same. In fact, the NES cord won't even fit in the SNES.
I know there's sellers out there selling aftermarket adapters that claim to work with both (as well as "Sega" consoles. Not sure which one, I'd guess Genesis), but I'd still prefer an official "SNS-002" adapter. (or PAL SNSP-002, which ever applies)

thats funny, i have one that has two different cords, one for the nes and one for the snes and it works fine

That's because it's unofficial.
The official (NES-002) AC adapter won't fit in the SNES because both the port on the SNES and the end of the NES cord are plugs. One needs to be a tip.
The unofficial adapters have two cords, one with a tip end and another with a plug end.

Turbografx with no games!? I'm your man. My personal favorites are the Bonk games (Particularily Adventure and Revenge), Blazing Lazers, Air Zonk, Galaga '90, Ninja Spirit, and Lords of Thunder (yes, lots of shooters.) If you have the CD player, for the love of all things good get Ys: I &II. People bought the thing just for that game. Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood is also phenomenal. And, if you can find a way to translate it, get Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. It may have never left Japan, but it's one of the best games ever made.

Best thread ever

And if you want something that's not on the VC, the Legendary Axe games are absolute gold. Side Arms is pretty good too.

Thanks guys! And yes, the turbo grafx did come with the CD player! The only problem is, since I don't have any games, I don't know whether or not it even works. It probably does since its spent all it's time in that case, but you never know...... I'll see if I can get some this weekend and test it out.
EDIT: Oh, and one nes will barely turn on, and the other just needs a little help sometimes. I can play games on it, but it still takes some playing around to get them to work correctly. If I get a chance, I'll replace the 72 pin connectors.
