There is an Atari 2600 game called Karate. Karate suffers from bad hit detection, awful controls and bad graphics and sounds. It is the worst Atari 2600 game I ever played despite the fact I also played ET.
[anomalous[i know spelled wrong] member] so feenie bet you never got lucky in chat [feenie] ya [tbd] green gabe [feenie] yup i almost drowned in the shower afterwards
Well, I'm gonna have to say that you're wrong. In ET, there's an almost endless amount of impossible-to-get-out-of pits, stupid people/scientists that take away the pieces to your ship and are hard to avoid, and almost unbearable sound. In Karate, there's just bad sound effects and poor hit detection. And to top off my disproving of your theory, most of the worst games are never remembered. If you don't believe me, then check out some of this guy's videos and you'll see what I mean.

Claiming ET is the "worst game ever", or anything among those lines, is just proof that you don't know much about gaming, on the 2600 or elsewhere, and just try to look educated by copying opinions others have posted on the internet.
And yes, Karate is a much worse game than ET. That's undeniable fact. The fact that you didn't even know about the existence of this game until now makes your opinion on which 2600 game is the worst pretty worthless.
ET ain't the worst Atari game anyways. It just gets annoying sometimes and it's the most notorious 2600 game that's not good. Knight on the Town is another piece of crap that's worse than ET. Karate looks like crap too.
And here lies the famous article that isnt politically correct...lol. There are a LOT of 2600 games that sux, but some were really run.... especially KaBoom.

ET certainly wasn't as bad as made out. I'd feel hard done by if I paid $50 for it back in the day, but I remember playing it through to completion more than once. It's no worse than Raiders of the Lost Ark; in fact I'd say it's less frustrating than that!
I don't think you guys might enjoy the porn games on Atari over E.T.

Yeah, i have to chime in as well that ET was not the "worst game evar!" that it's made out to be. It's not good. No. And yes, Karate is certainly worse, and is in my short list of worst 2600 games of all time. Of course, to be fair, i actually enjoy the original Basketball game for the 2600 (also often on worst-of lists), and still play it from time to time (though it's probably just largely due to nostalgia)
@Sean Ahh, 2600 Raiders of the Lost Ark ... one of my favorties as a kid. We played it to death, mapped out all the rooms and everything. But yes, there are many similarities to the gameplay between Raiders and ET (most pointedly, the "where the heck to i go and what the heck am i supposed to do in this game?" thing).

Funny how at 5 yrs old, not only was I smart enough to get out of those "impossible-to-get-out-of-pits" but could avoid those "stupidpeople/scientists that take away the pieces of your phone (not ship)" but could beat the game in a matter of minutes. I never really thought the game was all that bad. My personal vote for worst game on the Atari 2600 was Raiders of the Lost Ark. I couldn't stand that game.
Flandre Scarlet, she's cute, she's colorful, she can blow up entire cities, she's also a vampire. Start running sparklepants.

Nah, not really - ET is pretty straight forward, and everything you need to know is explained in the manual. Raiders is much much more obscure.
