Is it worth seeking out all of the Resident Evil games for the GC? Or just the exclusives like the RE Remake, Zero, and 4 (All of which could be substituted for Wii versions I suppose) and downloading the rest on online stores from Sony and Microsoft?
Unlike the poster above, I recommend going through the entire series on the GameCube if you can get hold of them. I started with Zero, Remake, 2, 3, CV and then 4. There's just something special about playing through an entire series like this on a single console. RE 2 and 3 certainly look the worst of the bunch but the GC versions are still going to be the best looking versions you can find.
My favourites would be Remake, Re4 and CV (opposite of the poster above) but the fact is all six games are a lot of fun and, really, I'd say play them all. The original RE you can probably do without, though. I still enjoy playing it for nostalgia reasons, but without that, it doesn't do anything that the Remake doesn't do better.
Yeah when you actually go back to retro Resi City and finish them all with multiple playthroughs and get different endings then you can fully understand how much Crapcom killed one of their great franchises like a well placed shot to its exploding cranium
1, 2, 3, CV, Dead Aim, Outbreak 1 & 2 REmake & Zero I thought were awesome but my fav is always gonna go to RE 3: NEMESIS
Here is a video of some parts of the Gamecube port... The music in this game I reckon would have to be some of the best in the series especially that haunting save room tune
@Waviodudskibeezlebubwhatdafuq? yeah it was quite the premo package with everything you mentioned bro also the bullet creation tool and choose your own adventure cutscenes added alot to the mix... But the best would have to be Nemmy showing up unexpectedly with that music kickin' in almost giving me a damn heart attack F***!
Nah haven't tried RE6 and after checking out some gameplay vids on youtube I don't think I really want to put the final nail in the zombie coffin besides I'm having a blast playing ZombiU to even care about RE6.
Still I don't know how I feel about having to pay such high prices for Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code Veronica X on GC when I could easily buy them off the Playstation store for fairly cheap and the only difference being a little picture quality. Additionally how are the versions of the RE games on Wii? If there is no benefit over one or the other I'll probably go the Wii route as it's just easier to find.
awsome series one of my favs in the gaming world, i played them all as well as owning except the original ps1 and those arcade games perhaps if i find them in some retro store i'll pick it up lol
now i just got to wait probably 5 more years before re7 *which id call re9 because i include zero and veronica in the lineup * which will slightly kill me till it eventually comes as well as the rumours of an HD Revelation and the goty re6 version having claire scenario plus a sequal to RE ORC that has nothing to do with the main storyline but i enjoy it none the less
Have you completed the original, along with 2 & 3?
Zero is worth checking out if you can ignore some of it's short commings....Leeches? The lead villian looking like some Sailormoon Castlevania Reject? He sings Opera to command leeches? Giant Bio weapon frogs that are about as threatening as a sleeping poodle? )
I'd love to forget it even happened, same deal with Code Veronica. The characters and plot got absurb with those two games, where as 1,2 and 3 are more grounded and felt like a b-grade remero flick.
Only game in the series I haven't yet is Zero and Code Veronica, REmake is so superior to RE1 that it effectively replaces it. I actually like Zero and overlook it's faults.

MMA is the best sport on television.
Yeah I didn't really take into account the GameCube versions might be priced pretty highly. I bought mine as they were released, so I guess they've become something of collector's items. The only reason I like the CG versions is because I have the full series on one system and I still play them on the Wii to this day. You can't beat playing through all six games from 0-4 in sequence.
Get them on whatever system you can find them for at the price you're willing to play.
