Yeah, same here. All you have to do is press up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, A, B, Select, Start. All within the time it takes for you to pass through the ground block with the dying animation. The guy didn't even tell you that.
