Here's a hint: Don't buy Madkatz GameCube controllers. Stick to official Nintendo controllers to be safe, but unfortuntely they're only available used now.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I usually buy original controllers unless its a turbo one. When I buy used ones I do get sticky/dirty buttons. I will tear my controller apart all the way till I can remove the buttons, then clean each item with mean green (cleaning agent I get from dollar general or k-mart or the like) and paper towels/q-tips for those small passages and such. Just don't try over cleaning the black parts of the rubber pads, thats the semi metallic contacts that shorts button and you can rub that right off if not careful.

I'm kind of a clean freak about cleaning old controllers and cartridges. I also pull my cartridges apart for cleaning with proper materials. Oh, and if that isn't bad enough. I then regularly shine my systems up with ArmorAll Original Protectant with New Improved UV Protection.
