Honk honk, baby. I love me some N64 controller. I still remember seeing the first prototype photos of the then-Ultra 64.... wish they could've kept that moniker and the slick purple/black motif.... and the 4 controller ports (first console to do so, I believe) made it look like the backend of a corvette. Sexy. I think the controller design is quite attractive, in that wacky, "I can't believe anyone thought of this" kind of way. Three handles? Z-trigger? Shoulder buttons? Different colors? And the compartment for add-ons (like the memory and rumple pak) was revolutionary. Another HONK for good measure.

the n64 controller wasn't bad considering you ignore the terrible analog, sure its excusable because it was the first, but playstation got it right. The dualshock 3 is the perfect controller.
perfect analog placement and accuracy, all buttons are easy to reach, and it fits in my hands perfectly(I have big hands) the gamecube controller would have been the perfect shape if it wasn't made for 6 year olds. but the duelshock fits in my fingers instead of my palms.

It does seem like people always trash the original innovators. I'm sure people will be trashing the Wii controller in the future when improved versions and rip-offs come out.

OK, there's a difference between having an opinion and being just plain ignorant. I gotta agree with Alexsays on this one. The PS controller is FAR better than that 3-pronged hunk of plastic junk that N64 controller was. Pure fanboyism saying it was better. The PS1 had a sensibly-placed analog stick, and didn't have any buttons directly underneath the thing.

Since it sucks so bad, I won't honk. I'll disable the horn and rip it straight out of the steering wheel.

BTW worst controller ever was the X -Box. That thing was just way too big. Playing Splinter Cell on that thing sucked.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on that. Forgot about that chunky, bulky hunk of junk. That's gotta be the worst controller ever created. There's bad controllers, and then there's that thing. It and Halo were the reasons I refused to buy the original Xbox.

Did you even bother to read my entire post? The main reason I didn't buy an Xbox was because of it's god-awful controller, not just Halo. I know I'm not REQUIRED to buy Halo, but I would've felt pressured into buying it because absolutely EVERYONE who had an Xbox had it. Oh, and there was about 5 games for the thing I was interested in...

The N64 was a very modern controller in how it was marketed too. At the system's launch, there was 6 colors available!

Yeah, apart from the control stick crapping out fast, I thought the N64 had a great controller. Different strokes, I s'pose.

But seriously, I did like that controller more than a lot of other controllers, more than the Gamecube one

HOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNK! Wow! I loved this controller. Still do. I didn't actually realize so many people LOATHE this controller until a couple years ago. I can't understand why. It's amazing. Yet everyone hates it. For classic games like fighting games you can use the D-pad by holding it a different way, and then of course there's the normal way of holding it (left hand in the middle) it's perfect to me. It fits in my hands very well. But THEN theres the Gamecube controller (which I think an equal amount of people hated) that controller fits perfectly. It's like it was custom made for my hands. I HATE the Playstation controller. I can't understand why so many people think it's so great. I don't like the stubby little grips that you can't actually hold. Nintendo's grips are like handles, but with PS it's like holding a SNES controller except less comfortable because it has two protrusions. I also don't like how you have to reach way down with your thumb to use the control--I'm sorry--analog stick. I find myself ONLY using the D-pad with Playstation games if I can help it.

The N64 controller I think just feels good in your hands and is perfect for just about any hands size too!

And what about those cool colors they came in?! One of these days, I'm going to go to ebay and buy up a bunch of those funky colors like the poplular Atomic Purple!
