Just wondering if anyone knows if this is good or not. I like the PC version, but I think a portable version could be really cool.

I found it surprisingly good. I'm a big fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series and was impressed with just how well the developers translated an expansive and complicated PC game to the Game Boy Color. Whilst the graphics aren't up to much and it is somewhat cut down from the PC version (which is unsurprising considering the system it is on), it certainly captures the essence of a Homm game. There is a decent campaign mode comprising seven scenarios, plus over twenty stand alone scenarios. The maps vary in size but some are quite large and expansive, no less so than their PC counterparts in some cases and could potentially take a good number of hours to get through. There are also a reasonable number of hero classes and creature types. The bottom line is it still feels like a Homm game and as long as you are prepared to accept its limitations then I think you will enjoy it.

@Chozo85 Can you be the Warlock and have dragons in your party? How about the Wizard with Titans?

The hero types aren't quite the same as they were in the PC version. There are four types of hero's: stronghold, fortress, castle and rampart. These are quite similar to affiliations in the PC version but with different names. The stronghold affiliation are essentially the warlocks from the PC version, whilst rampart are similar to the wizards. The selection of creatures that make up your army are quite different from the PC version. Some didn't make the cut, including Titans unfortunately On the plus side there are others from Homm3 that never appeared in Homm 2. Dragons are plentiful, there are four types in total: green, red, black and gold.

@Chozo85 That is too bad about the Titans. Gold Dragons sound pretty sweet, however. Is Heroes Might and Magic I for Game Boy Color worth getting as well, or should I just get II?

Gold dragons are probably the most powerful creature in the game. To be honest there isn't to much to choose between the first and the second versions, they play more or less the same. I would probably give the second version the edge as it doeshave a proper campign mode where as the first only has stand alone scenarios. So I would probably get Homm2 first and then if you like it maybe get Homm1.

Actually, it was okay. Not the best, but it offered a lot of things.
Oh! A Heroes on DS would be nice. What do you guys think?

No worries, I hope you enjoy the game. And yes, a DS version would be a great idea. I'm almost surprised they haven't done one yet, with touch screen controls it would work very well.
